This tutorial explains how you can add relatives individually. Before you proceed with this, we would recommend that you take a look at this article we have written which covers different safeguarding and data protection issues you might want to consider when adding relatives. On Tapestry you can add as many relatives as you wish, and you can link various relatives to the same child. If there is a family that would like to have an account for every single member, e.g. parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, etc., that is absolutely fine! To add relatives one at a time the most important piece of information you will need is their email address. All relative accou…

There are a few situations when you might find yourself needing to send a new activation email or having to retry a user's activation through a different method, i.e. the first one was lost among the spam mail, the activation email expired after 30 days, the account was left as 'not activated' when you first added the user to the account, or you received relatives via a transfer from another setting. Retrying an activation is very straight forward, and you can do so as many times as necessary. It is important to bear in mind, however, that you can try reactivating accounts for activating and not activated users only (learn more about user status here). Also no…

On the new iOS app it is now possible to receive push notifications on a specific device! For a user to start receiving these type of notifications there is a two-step enabling process. Firstly, a manager needs to permit this within the account user permissions and secondly, an individual user has to allow this from their device. The reason behind this two-step process is that push notifications involve sending personal information via Apple’s servers, which may be outside the EU and this information might be displayed on a device’s lock screen. Therefore, depending on the data protection policy for your setting, you may not want to permit this or only permit …

A great feature on the iOS app is the ability to login and add observations whilst the device you're using to access the Tapestry app is offline. This works by authenticating PIN logins that have already been enabled on the device whilst you have connection. As such, it's not possible to login with an email and password whilst offline. Before you enable this on your account, we suggest settings think about the benefit of offline access vs the additional risks. It's important to note a few things that could happen with offline access: A user might be able to see information even though their account has been deactivated. This is because the offline app may not …

Every Tapestry activation, password reset and notification email has an 'unsubscribe' option; this was designed for situations where a user has been added with the incorrect email (A). When a user unsubscribes from Tapestry their email address is blacklisted and their access to the account is blocked. If a user simply wants to change their email preferences so they receive fewer, or no notification emails, they should click on the link labelled by arrow B in the screenshot below. Clicking on the link after it says 'Do you think you've been set up on Tapestry by mistake?' (A in the screenshot above) will take you to the following screen: …

Sometimes when you're adding users to Tapestry or receiving child transfers and the relatives are included in the transfer, you may end up with users who have two or more accounts on Tapestry which are registered with the same email; this causes what we call 'Duplicate Accounts'. Duplicate accounts can be caused in two different ways’, either when adding a user via a CSV file or when receiving a relative that has already been set up in your account through a transfer. You wouldn't be able to create a duplicate by adding the same user twice individually, as the system would not allow you to proceed with this. To skip to a relevant section of this tutorial please …

This tutorial explains how you can add a staff member individually. It's important that each staff member has their own unique account on Tapestry, for both safeguarding reasons and also for you to be able to tell who has done what and when. It's also very important that each staff member has a secure password that only they know. For guidance on how to set a secure password you just need to read this article.
