In this tutorial I'm going to walk you through the new iOS Tapestry app. Please note, with the new app we are only supporting devices that are iOS 9 or higher. Whilst the original app will remain accessible until further notice (we will let you know when we plan to discontinue it with plenty of notice), we do recommend you upgrade to the new app as it's got lots of exciting new features! The main ones for staff are: You can login and add observations whilst offline You can keep working even when the internet connection is poor You can start your next observation without waiting for the previous one to upload Observations can be saved as drafts …

Please note that this tutorial is related to the old EYFS. For information about the new EYFS 2021, please click here. Although it is not possible to import data from other systems into Tapestry, it is possible to manually backdate your children's summative assessment scores. This is possible by manually entering the summative assessment scores directly into each child's individual summative assessment screen. To do this, you just need to go to the tracking tab (1) > EYFS (2) > Summative Assessment > Individual screen (3). You then need to select the child and the assessment period you'd like to backdate the data for…

Please note that the information in this tutorial is related to the old EYFS. For information about tracking for the new EYFS 2021, please click here, and for information about the EYFS 2021 thoroughness screens please click here. On Tapestry there are two types of screen that you can use to view the distribution of different types of EYFS data, Box and Whisker Plot Graph screens and Distribution Chart screens. We'll start by looking at the Box and Whisker Plot Graphs. To skip to the section on Distribution Charts, click here. Box and Whisker Plot Graphs We have Box and Whisker Plot Graph screens for each of the three sections of analysis on Tapestry…

If you no longer have a lawful reason to store someone's personal data on Tapestry, for example if a child has left your setting or if a parent has withdrawn their consent for you to use their email address for Tapestry, you will need to delete their profile. In some cases you will find that you have a legal obligation to retain certain data e.g. accident records, but in a lot of cases, you may find it easier to export just that from Tapestry and hold onto it along with all other retained data outside of Tapestry. To delete a profile you will need to be logged into the browser version of Tapestry as a manager and go to the control panel (1). From there you'll need to…

If you are processing someone's personal data, they have the right to ask you to restrict processing. This means that although you should still store their data, you should stop doing anything else with it, unless you have a lawful reason to do so, for example if it's to protect the rights of another person. If you haven't already done so please do take a look at the ICO guidance on this. If you do need to restrict processing, the easiest way to do that when it comes to Tapestry is to make the user/child inactive. You will be able to reactivate them at any point though, and their data will be just as you left it when the profile was made inactive. Whilst they are …

People have a right to access personal data you store about them free of charge and without delay. You must provide people with a copy of the data stored about them if they request it. To help you to comply with a subject access request, we can provide you with a ZIP file of all the data stored in Tapestry that we can identify as being about a particular child, relative or staff member. By this I mean that it will find data their profiles are linked to. It won't however, be able to find information written in free text boxes not linked to them e.g. in observations where they're not tagged. To get hold of that you will need to login into the browser version of Tape…

If you have been broken into there are a few things you should do as soon as possible in order to protect the data on your devices and within Tapestry: 1) If you were logged into Tapestry when the device was stolen or you set it to remember your passwords, deactivate any user that might affect. You can contact us to do that for you if you're not confident using Tapestry or if you think it will affect a lot of people on your accounts. 2) Check your History. 3) If someone on the device can access your email inbox on the device without entering a password make sure you force it to log out of all active devices and change your password. 4) Wipe the devices remotely if po…

If you suspect that someone is logging into Tapestry using an email address and password other than their own then the very first thing to do is deactivate that user. You can do that from the Manage Relative/Staff (whichever is appropriate for the user) page within the Control Panel. You then need to find their name and use the cog along the line from their name to deactivate them. This will stop anyone from being able to sign in with that email and password combination. The next thing to do is to get in touch with us. We will be able to deactivate your whole …

If you're confident when it comes to using Tapestry, and the issue only seems to be affecting one user, you can follow all the steps in this tutorial to rectify it. If, however, you would like some assistance or you believe this issue is affecting several users (which might be the case if it's a staff email account that has been hacked or stolen) please do get in touch with us and we can deactivate the whole account to investigate. You can do this by either using the 'Contact us' page in the drop-down list from your name, or send an email to customer.service@eyfs.info. If you do send us an email though please m…

If someone can see an observation they shouldn't be able to see, there are a few things you can check to make sure that everything is set up correctly. If you're confident when it comes to using Tapestry, and it only seems to be affecting one user, you might be better off checking the things I'll describe to you in this tutorial first as they are the most likely causes behind it. However, if you're new to Tapestry or you think it's affecting a few users please get in touch with us as soon as you can - that way we can deactivate your entire account while we investigate. To get in touch with us, you can either use the 'Contact us' page in the drop down list from your na…
