Downloading Journal to PDF
by Guest- 0 replies
- 95.1k views
This tutorial will talk you through how to produce PDF files of a child's journal, for staff and parents to celebrate a child's time at your setting. You can then hand this out as an electronic copy or produce paper versions to give to relatives. There's a few things to note before we start: Only managers will be able to create the journal downloads If your observations have a lot of media or the children have been with you over several years, then this can create extremely large files; so we'd recommend that you break down the production of your journals over time. If you're not intending to export a PDF journal at the end of a child's time with …

Please note that this tutorial is about tracking for the old EYFS. For information about tracking screens for the new EYFS 2021, please click here. This tutorial will talk you through how to enter baseline assessments for children on Tapestry, you can then use these assessments to track children's progress throughout the year. To find the baseline screen you will need to click on the Tracking section at the top of the page (1), then making sure you are on the 'EYFS' section (2), in the 'Baseline Assessment' section click on either the 'Individual view' or 'Group view' button (3). Multiple child observations
by Guest- 0 replies
- 26.4k views
On Tapestry there is no limit to the number of children you can add to an observation, therefore you can record group activities you are doing/have done in the form of a group observation. In a group observation any notes, media and assessments you add, will apply to all children that are included. Don't worry if you want to assess the children at different levels or add different notes/media for them though, as you can split the observation after you have saved it. I'll come on to what this is later in the tutorial. There are also some settings that apply to group observations that we suggest you have a think about, we'll also cover these in the tutorial. …

Adding an observation
by Guest- 0 replies
- 48.8k views
Please note: If you are completing a complex observation, you should save work regularly and then edit to carry on filling it in. Tapestry login sessions expire after an hour and it is also possible that a network blip could void your login session. If either of these things happen, when you press 'save’ on the observation you will be taken to the login screen and your work since the last save will be lost. Adding an observation on Tapestry is really quick and easy; in this tutorial we’re going to look at how to do this on the browser version of Tapestry but if you want to see how to do this on the app you just need to select the relevant tutor…

Converting a trial account
by Guest- 0 replies
- 8.2k views
If you want to convert your free trial to a full account and, in doing so, keep all the information that was added onto it throughout your trial, you can do so through your Tapestry account. Please note that regardless of when you convert it, you will still get the rest of your trial free before your annual subscription starts, so once you've made the decision it decreases the chance of a break in service if you convert straight away. NB: If you find your trial has expired and you haven't already completed the procedure below, then you won't be able to access Tapestry to convert. In this case, email tapestry.support@eyfs.info and we'll send you an invoice. First of…

All About Me
by JoeG- 0 replies
- 18.9k views
This is a quick tutorial to show you the 'All About Me' feature on Tapestry. It allows you or a child's relatives to fill in a few personal details about them. One of the advantages of the About Me page is that it can be filled in for children that are currently enrolling. This means that when you first add children that you don't want to activate quite yet in preparation for the new academic year, if permitted, their relatives will be able to start filling in the About Me page. This will give relatives some time to familiarise with Tapestry before their children start with you, and will also give you the chance to start getting to know the children a bit better befo…

There are certain groups on Tapestry that are automatically created for you based on the information you enter for children, like gender, season born, cohort year etc., so it's not necessary for you to set up these groups on your account. If however, you would like to create groups specific to your setting such as classes, rooms and ability groups, you just need to follow this tutorial. Groups on Tapestry can be used when adding observations, to select whole groups at a time or select children from a group (currently only available on the browser version) and they can also be used to help you with your tracking on Tapestry. To create a new group or manag…

You can set each member of staff up with their own Key Children on Tapestry. You can then make Tapestry only show a staff member their own Key Children. This can be really helpful for managing all the children on your account. For example, if specific staff members only observe and assess specific children, they will only see the children they need to see. If you are in a school, you may want to set up the class Teacher as the key person and assign them the children from their class. Click here for the tutorial explaining how to change your Tapestry settings so that you only see key children. Setting up key children can still be useful even if you want to …

This feature allows a setting to quickly and easily change the logged in member of staff, so that a new observation will be in the name of the correct staff member. Additionally it provides a method for the setting manager to control whether or not staff members can log in from outside the setting - a security measure that has been discussed in the Tapestry forum. This feature is also available on the companion app to Tapestry. A guide for Android users can be found here. The feature is accessed from the dropdown box against your name at the top: Click the 'Switch Accounts' option and you'll be taken to the following standby screen: …
