On Tapestry it's possible to import children, relatives and staff in bulk, from a CSV file. You can see how to create a CSV file yourself from here, but you may also be able to export one from your school Management Information System. Once you have your CSV file you can upload this from your Control Panel in your account. You can access this by clicking on your name in the top right-hand corner (1), selecting 'Control Panel' (2) from the drop-down menu and when you arrive on the Control Panel you'll need to select 'Manage Children' (3) from the left-hand menu. At the top of this page you can see how many enrolling, active, inactive and awaiting deletion childr…

You can upload relatives onto Tapestry via CSV file. This is a quick guide to show you what the CSV document you need to create will look like and explain how you can convert a standard excel file sheet into a CSV file. Below is an examples of the excel sheet you will need. As you can see it just includes the heading of: First Name, Last Name, and Email. It is really important that you add the field headings into the CSV file - otherwise you will lose the first relative when importing the document. In order to change this to CSV format you should go to "File" > "Save As" > "Save as type:" " CSV (Comma Delimited)". …

These instructions describe the process of adding an individual child to Tapestry. If you would like to import children in bulk from a CSV file, which you may be able to export from a Management Information System (MIS) or other source, please take a look at the Importing data to Tapestry tutorial. This tutorial however, covers how to add children manually, one at a time. To do this, we need to go to the management area of Tapestry, the Control Panel. A manager can find this section by clicking on their name in the top right-hand corner (1) and selecting 'Control Panel' (2) from the drop-down menu. Once in the Control Panel, in the menu on…

Starting to use Tapestry is very straightforward but I've put a quick screenshot tutorial to get you kicked off. Please check out the other tutorials for some more in-depth descriptions of how to use the various functions. Basically, setting Tapestry up consists of adding setting details, adding children, adding staff, and then adding observations. You can also add relatives if you like, but you might want to some time getting used to Tapestry before you do that. Here's how to go about it: When you first login to your Tapestry account you will be taken through some introductory screens where you can set up your manager’s name, your setting’s time zone, your asses…

In this tutorial I will run through how to set default notification settings for all users on your Tapestry package. Only managers can change default settings, but all users can change their personal preferences by following the steps listed in our tutorial on setting your own notification preferences. If you want to set up push notifications for users so they can enable them on specific devices, you can take a look at the guides linked below for iOS and Android. Please note, push notifications are only available on the new versions of the app which are separate to the original version. You can download them from the App/Play store. Enabling and using push notif…

It can be very useful to keep a log of what you've done in a program, especially when a number of people are using it. Tapestry includes a history tab which will tell you exactly what has happened when, including when people have logged in. You can filter this which you may find particularly useful if you have a large number of events and are looking for something specific. Let me show you how it looks and works: First off go to your control panel by clicking on your name in the top right hand corner (1) and selecting 'Control Panel' from the drop down menu (2). Then from the left hand side menu select 'History'. Once you…

You can customise your Tapestry by choosing from a range of themes and font types that appear in the notes section of an observation. To do this you will need to go to your control panel by clicking on your name in the top right hand corner, then selecting 'Control Panel' from the drop down menu. You will then need to click on (1) Settings and then (2) 'Theme' from the drop down menu. To change the theme you just need to select the one you would like from the drop down list in the (3) 'Select Theme' section. You can see an example of one of our new themes below! On Tapestry you can set up assessment periods which you can then use in the tracking screens to see where children are and how they are progressing between the periods. We recommend that you set up your term dates at the beginning of your academic year. When setting up your assessment periods, we suggest you set them to match your setting's term dates and to match how often you check children's assessments; for example if you check these termly then you will only want 3 terms but if you check them half termly then you will want 6 periods. As this is a setting change, you will need to be signed into the browser version of Tapestry as a manager and go…
