Now available for the Care Diary is the ability to disable the autocomplete function for food, meal drink, all-day drink, milk feed, sleep care status and sleep care location entries. This feature remembers previous entries, allowing you to select them when typing them out again. Within this tutorial here you can find out how to use this feature.

We are very excited to announce that a tagging feature is now live in Tapestry! From now on, you’ll be able to tag key words by putting a hashtag (#) in front of the word you’d like to label in any observation. This feature will allow you to create an additional category of your choice, which you’ll then be able to use to sort through observations via the tagged word. This feature is on by default, but if you’d like to disable it you can do so from control panel > settings > observations.

Now if you purchase a new Tapestry package, when you initially login to the account you will be given a few different introductory screens where you can enter a manager's name, your setting timezone, enable the frameworks you want to use on the account and set up your assessment periods. This is to help ensure the account is set up best for your setting before you get started making observations!

Occasionally on Tapestry it is possible to end up with multiple accounts for the same child, for example it can happen if a child moves setting, both settings use Tapestry and the child is not immediately transferred across. So, we have now added the ability to merge two children's accounts on Tapestry. You can find out how out how to use this function by following this tutorial.

You can now export specific observations into a PDF. To do so, you just need to tick the ones you want (you might want to find those using the 'Filter and Sort Observations' bar, and/or the search box), then select 'Export as PDF' from the pop up options box. You can find those in the 'Your Downloads' section in the drop down list from your name. Remember to take a look at your user permissions for staff if you want to change who can/cannot do that!

We have added a new Montessori Summative Assessment screen to Tapestry, from which you will be able to manually add assessments and refinements for Montessori activities without having to add a full observation! You will also be able to view the progress the child is making for each activity from one period to the next. More information about how to use this screen can be found at the tutorial at this link. A new tutorial for how to use the Montessori Activities Overview screen has also been added at this link.

Now, whenever you add an observation through the browser version of Tapestry, the child's actual age will appear in brackets next to their name. Hopefully this will help you when it comes to making assessments, because if you're not sure which age band you should assess them as, that will at least give you a starting point - you can ask yourself whether you think what they are doing is what you would expect of a child of their age.
