The latest update to the Android and Fire app is now available. The version number for it is 4.0.1. This version comes with a number of bug fixes and the added functionality of being able to view, reply to, comment on, and ‘Like’ the activities and memos that have been posted via the browser. Along with that you will see that the page filters have been amended slightly to allow you to search for a specific type of post (we call that ‘page type’). If you can’t see those straight after updating, you may need to delete your cached data. You can do that from ‘You’ > ‘Delete local data’. Some of you will be automatically upgraded to it and some of you will need to u…

This week we’ve made a small change to what's shown in the email notifications for memos. From now on, instead of just being notified that there is a new memo available, the recipient will be able to read the full content of the notes section. This means that parents won’t have to log into Tapestry to find out what you want to tell them/remind them about. It doesn’t include images or document attachments though, they will still need to log in in order to access those.

All users on Tapestry (children, relatives, staff, and managers) will now be able to see a ‘Your Data’ page when they log into the browser version. Children can find it by clicking on their names in the top left hand corner of the screen, and everyone else can find it in the drop down from their names in the top right of the screen. The ‘You Data’ page explains a bit about what happens to their personal data on Tapestry and their rights. If you would like to see more details about how we handle data, please take a look at our contract. You can always find the latest version here.

Here’s a little change to make your lives a bit easier. When you’re editing an observation on the browser version, you can now choose to ‘select all’ media, rather than having to tick each item individually. You can then click to delete all of it in one go. You’ll be able to untick any that you didn’t want to select before you click that delete button, so this should save you time when you’re deleting all but one or two pieces of media from an observation. E.G. For if you’ve made a group observation and uploaded a picture of every child doing the activity, then split it so you only have to type up the text once, but you want to only have one child’s picture in eac…

We now have a system for early adopters using the new Developments Matters statements. Following guidance from Dr Julian Grenier, the author of the new Development Matters, and Gill Jones and Wendy Ratcliff from OFSTED, we have decided against allowing users to tick the statements. You can read more about our thinking behind it in this article written by one of our education team, Ben Case. Instead, we have added the ability for you to ‘flag’ the observation as being evidence towards an Area of Learning. This will create an organised bank of observations for you to refer back to. It consists of 2 key parts: 1) Flags. You may already be familiar with thes…

The latest iOS update is ready! This version allows you and the relatives at your school or setting to view the activities and memos that have been posted via the browser, as well as the observations. Along with that you will see that the page filters have been amended slightly to allow you to search for a specific type of post (we call that ‘page type’). This update is only for those of you using Apple devices e.g. ipads, but we are working on a similar update for Android.

Children who are becoming more independent can now log into the browser version of Tapestry themselves using our newest feature: Child Login. Every child who you set up to use this feature will have their own password and will be able to view and reply to observations attached to them, access activities set by their teachers, and create their own observations. Staff can set up ‘group login pages’ to allow specific children to sign into Tapestry on selected devices while in school, and set whether they can sign in via their parents’ Tapestry accounts when at home. It has been designed to be easily used in classroom situations. Staff will set up the group they…

There is a new analysis screen for settings and schools using the Montessori framework. It’s called ‘Assessment Counts’ and will let you compare the number of times activities within each subarea, for example ‘Mathematics – Introductory Activities’, have been assessed. You can view and compare those figures for up to 4 individual children, 4 groups, or 4 staff members, or just 1 child, group, or staff member across up to 4 periods. You can find it in the ‘Tracking’ tab along with the other Montessori snapshot screens. This is only available on the browser version of Tapestry – you will not be able to find it within the app.

Profile picture upload pages are now available for managers on the browser version of Tapestry. This feature should cut down the amount of time it takes to add profile pictures for new children, relatives, and staff joining your school or setting. You can find it in the control panel by going to the ‘Manage Children’, ‘Manage Relatives’ or ‘Manage Staff’ page, depending on who you’re adding profile pictures for. You should be able to see a button on each of those pages labelled ‘Update Profile Pictures’. For the children, you can also access it from the ‘Children’ page by ticking the boxes next to the children you want to add/change a picture for. This is a man…

If you use the MOVE programme, you can now enable a branch map based on it as part of the Cherry Garden framework. MOVE is an activity-based programme that that uses the collaborative approach of education, therapy and family knowledge to teach disabled children the skills of sitting, standing and walking. You can find out much more about it here: https://eyfs.info/articles.html/primary/what-is-the-move-programme-r315/ We do not own the rights to MOVE and it is a paid for resource. It is therefore not available for every Tapestry setting to turn on by default. If you use it or would like to use it, please get in touch with MOVE with your Tapestry account ID – …
