Hi all, We are delighted to announce the beta release of our latest Tapestry feature, and the first part of our management system, Booking! We know a lot of you have been requesting a management system on Tapestry to allow you to access all your software in one place, so in an effort to get it to you as quickly possible, we will be releasing each element of the Tapestry Management System in stages. This means the Booking feature as it is now is not the final product and we will be adding lots more to it and the rest of the Management System. Future releases will include: capacity, staff ratios, billing & invoicing, an online register, as well as lots …

Hi all! The new EYFS became statutory in September 2021 and here at Tapestry, we support the way the EYFS is changing, moving away from data-centred assessment and towards a child-centred approach. Here is a little snippet of how the EYFS 2021 has been added to Tapestry and what it looks like. N.B. Please note that the new EYFS will not automatically appear on your account and the old EYFS framework will not automatically be hidden. To start using the new EYFS you will need to manually enable it on your account. Let me go into more detail on the changes we have made and what this means for you, your setting and your provision. These ar…

In this article I'm going to explain the different child statuses there are on Tapestry and answer some of the frequently asked questions regarding them. There are four different types of status a child can have on Tapestry: Enrolling - This was designed for when you want to add a new cohort of children at the end of the academic year before your current children have left. You can't use the full functionality of Tapestry with children that are enrolling. You can only: attach them to relatives, assign them to staff as key children, add them to groups, add them to Memos, complete their All About Me and print name labels for them. It's only possible to add the sam…

When you set up relatives on your Tapestry account, there are many different aspects of safeguarding and data protection you will probably want to think about. This will help you make decisions on how to implement any necessary measures on your account. In this article I’m going to cover the ones we think are most important. Let’s get started by going over a few data protection points. Just because the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is now in effect, doesn’t mean you can’t enter any personal information about children or relatives to Tapestry, you just need to ensure you have a lawful basis to upload children’s and relative’s personal data to …

At the end of each academic year, there are a few things that need to be done or at least considered, in order to prepare your Tapestry account for next year’s cohort. To support the information provided in this post, we also have a few End of Year To-Do List infographics that might help you with this process. Managing your packages The first thing you might want to think about is how to manage your Tapestry package/s. This is especially important for larger settings or settings that use, or are planning to use, Tapestry across several cohorts or years. We do recommend having a separate package for each cohort/or year as we have heard feedback from…

This post was updated on 19/12/2023 Disclaimer: Recommendations for specific devices are just our opinion. If you feel differently please feel free to let us know! You can send a message with any corrections that you think should be made to customer.service@eyfs.info. This is a list of pros and cons for purchasing one package for your setting or having multiple packages, we do recommend for schools having a package per key stage but you can use this article to help make the decision as to which option is best for your setting. One package Pros You can see data for your whole setting, so you are able to compare different year groups. Staff can use one account to access children in different year groups/cohorts. You can add observations for children across year groups. Relatives can use just one log in to access accounts for more than one child. Avoids almost all the cons you get fro…

When taking out a Tapestry subscription for a whole school or multiple key stages we recommend having separate packages, rather than having one large package. So, if you are a school we recommend having a package for reception, and then one for KS1 and one for KS2. If you do decide to take out a package per key stage this leaves you with two options at the end of the academic year in terms of how to set up the packages. I will lay out both of the choices below so you can decide how best to set up your accounts. Option 1 Have a package assigned to a specific group of children. This way at the end of the year you won’t need to move the ch…

If you are a Tapestry user and would like some or all of your data to be deleted, in most cases you will need to contact the school, nursery, or childminder who set the account up. They will be able to delete/amend your account and any content within Tapestry. That is because they are what is known as the 'data controller' and we are the 'data processor'. This means only they can decide what data is collected and stored or otherwise processed by Tapestry, and we can only follow their explicit instructions. If you are a manager on the account, or you have any questions, you can email us at customer.service@eyfs.info and we'll be happy to help! You can find ou…
