Hi I am a 19 year old student, done 2 years of sixth form, passed but not enough grades to get into uni. Currently on my first year of CACHE ACD in Childcare and Education Level 3. My aim is to become a primary teacher. When I finish college, i hope to become employed as a teachers assistant and train to be a HLTA, then go into RTP. However the qualifications needed is really confusing I was just wondering if I would need to do a foundation degree before or something? Or if there was any other way I could do it, I've kinda gone off the idea of full time uni.. Thankyou

My info day is ages away, have warbled to an answer phone at the uni but thought some of you may have some ideas??

Hi I dont know if anyone can help or not but I have just found out that I have an interview for my Lower Primary PGCE course. I know that I will have to do a numeracy, literacy and ICT skills test. Does anyone know of any sample tests that are available online? Or does anyone have any old books that they would be willing to sell to me to help me through them?

Hi Everyone, Wonder if you can help or if anyone has any advice having been through this experience themselves. I have a friend who is applying to do the GTP and she has an interview soon. She been asked to prepare a 10 min presentation on a curriculum area of her choice. She has been given no other infomation and is worried that she is will not show them what they want to see. She is planning to focus on CLL. She is going to give an overview of what this is and how it is spilt in the foundation stage, then she is going to talk about activities and how to support each area within the foundation stage. Is this ok?? Has anyone got any advice? I don't feel I can help h…

This is a bit stressful and im only doing the application! The question im stuck on is.. Summary of your subject knowledge strengths (in relation to the National Curriculum) and areas you are planning to develop. My degree specialism is early childhood and education studies. I didn't do A levels, I did NVQ level 3 early years care and education. So i dont really know what to put, obviously I have some subject knowledge from the amount of time ive spent in schools, but nothing that can be backed up....does that matter? Obviously the answer in itself will be personal to my strengths but just need a little guidance if anyone can help???? thanks luci…

Hi there. I am a part time PGCE student and we have been told that we now have to evidence against the new standards but have not yet received any support or guidance on these. I started my portfolio last year and it all seems so confusing having to transfer to the new ones that I don't really know anything about yet. Anyone else in the same position, are other students getting better supported than me?

Two of my friends who are HLTAs have been told that they may be able to do their teacher training while continuing to work in school based on their NNEBs and experience. It might be worth looking into.

I haven't been around for a while as life all got a bit hectic! I have just had and passed my final teaching assessment, handed in all my assignments and portfolio and passed my QTS tests. I am just awaiting the certificate. I was lucky enough to get a job back in May, teaching reception from September. For all those who are contemplating teaching it can be done although it has been hard, but four years ago I was working as a nursery nurse in a early years class and wondering where now? I went the Foundation Degree, BA (hons) top up route with a little GCSE maths on the side (it took me 3 attemopts at getting the c grade!) then the GTP. However I have still …
