Hi there. As GTP and NQT mentor as well as school based tutor for local teacher training providers, I have been asked to put together some guidance for meeting the ITT standards, specifically relevant for those training for early years. I find over and over that the students and NQTs I work with get very little guidance in terms of evidence to put in their portfolios. I don't know if this is the same elsewhere? The new standards coming out this year streamline across ITT, NQT, threshold and then AST and excellent teacher standards, and so I would hope the guidance would help those training to teach, NQTs and possibly those applying for threshold too. What Id like t…

I am an unqualified teacher currently working towards the GTP route. I have my own class ® but have some team teaching time with my mentor and also non contact time which my mentor has filled with a programme for me to follow. My mentor has drawn up a training plan which covers what I need to do each week. I am just wondering what other have in their plans. I really dont want time out of my class to work with other teachers esp in the nursery, I also have to keep a reflective diary, which is soo time consuming as well as the usual lesson plans and work on portfolio. She has also asked me to match the points in hte plan against the standards and I really dont k…

Hi there. I am PGCE part time student now fast approaching the end of the first year (of 2) and my college tutor is saying that I dont have enough evidence in my portfolio for some of the standards (we have to provide evidence for each standard for each practise). I am struggling with the S1.8; S2.2; S2.3 and some of the others too, but these are where I am at now. I know its the holiday, but anyone help me work out what qualifies as evidence for these ones? Thanks in anticipation.

Hi there. Im doing a flexible PGCE in early years and have to say Im finding it tough going with work as well (I work part time as a TA). Im fairly new to the forum but have been getting lots of ideas from people so thankyou. I just wondering if there is anyone else out there trainng to be teacher especially part time and where you get the best support for your standards portfolio. We do obvioulsy get some guidance from college but being part time there is a tendency to have a fend -for- yourself approach. And not all schools have a trained mentor/tutor who is familiar with the standards. If ayone has been there, done that etc, where did you get your support from…
