New Resources
by Guest- 4 replies

Hi all we have some spare money to buy some new resources but there is so much to choose from. We have about £450 and i dont want to waste it What could you not 'live without' we are just celebrating our first birthday ( can't believe how quick its gone ) so ideas for any resources for any area would be great. We have bought things in the past that do not really interest the children, so tried and tested resources would be great. would like to buy as much as possible (rather than spend it all on one or two things ) i look forward to your replies (sorry for not being very specific with areas, but because we are a young setting we really can buy …

Home To Setting Booklet.

Hello out there, I wonder if anyone can help me? I work in a foundation stage setting and I am trying to find some kind of booklet that I can use to gather information from the child's family. Rather than reinvent the wheel I thought someone out there may be able to help. The kind of thing I am looking for would allow the parent/carer and child to tell the setting about the childs likes and dislikes, any prior learning such as number recognition, colour recognition, prefered hand, nursery rhymes they like etc. If anyone has anything like this they would be willing to share I would be really grateful. Thanks in advance mj-led

Hi I wonder if anybody can help me, i'm sure i saw somewhere on here a template of a form for parents to sign to say you can send their records to their new school, plus their comments on report. I seem to have lost the one i used last year, i thought i had it saved on my PC but it seems to have vanished, then i remember seeing something on the forum but i can't find it here either, maybe i was dreaming. Does anyone know the Five little ladybird rhyme? Somewhere I have two copies, but can find neither of them. I'm trying to start my planning and this would help. Particularly want a subtraction rhyme. I'm struggling with finding anything on the web and my dear son has gone off with his computer for the weekend and its got my favourite places on that. So big please. I will be very grateful. Lynda

Hi we are doing an assembly basec around trains, we have been on a visit to a train museum, and we have worked on the story 'The Train Ride'. I was wondering if anyone knew of any train songs, etc to supplement our assembly. We are going to do 'The Wheels on the Train'...and an outline of the trip as well as a simple drama of the story. Any ideas welcome Thanks

After popping into my local Early Learning Centre for some clay, I cheekily asked at the checkout if they did a discount for teachers. To my absolute pleasant surprise, I discovered that they do!! All I needed was proof that I was a teacher (I had my GTC card and Union membership) and my reference number (also in GTC card) and I've now got a card that gives my 10% (not off sale items) for a year, then I can renew again next year. My husband is also on the card, which means it will come in handy for birthdays and christmas' Fantastic Eh!!

Sand Dilemma

Hi I was just wondering if any one uses 'builders' sand for their sand provision. We have always used 'play' sand but as this is quite fine we have found that it goes everywhere!! Not an uncommon problem I know, but it did lead me to wonder whether we could use a coarser sand, does any one know of any health and safety issues? Thanks for your ideas and help Ruth
