We have a round table and wooden chairs for our under 2's to sit at for activities/snack etc. The problem we have is some of our younger babies can't support themselves in them very well and slowly slide down! I have just had a look at community playthings and they do chairs with a support in the middle like a high chair and it comes with or without the tray, which is handy as we don't need trays. Although I love CP I just don't think we can afford £120 per chair right now! Has anyone bought any similar? We've got reins attached to some of them but they don't work as the babies still slide down. thanks

I've been having a bit of a rearrangement of drawers/trays and cupboards over the holiday and have come up with new spaces where I can put resources for a malleable area and an investigation/exploration area so they are really easily accessible for the children. I'm trying to refresh my basic provision in these areas too. I suppose I'm thinking about the 'tools' you might use in these areas such as magnifying glasses, rolling pins, cutters etc. Would any of you mind sharing what you have in these areas as your basics or must haves?

I want to do an assembly next week on St Patrick's day. Does anyone have a child friendly version of the St Patrick story they could point me in the direction of? And/or an easy to learn song which might fit? I've done a forum search and found lots of great ideas for activities and am consequently really tempted to do a whole 'day' on it although my original plan was just for collective worship. Thanks.

'Ethnic' books

I've been given some money to buy books for our Reception class and would like to get some storybooks that depict children from the Asian communities but am struggling to find ones that are about children in Britain. I'm not looking for 'festivals' type books. We have plenty of those. We have 'Cleversticks' and 'Sam and the Lucky Money' in the classroom. Can anyone suggest any? Thank you
