Calendar And Weather Chart
by Guest- 11 replies

Sorry, I am in a poster mood can you tell! Ok I've made a small (A4) chart for use with my own and minded children. I am looking for nice pictures to illustrate the weather. On clipart I found some cute symbols but of the 2 styles I liked neither had all the types of weather I'd like! My plan is to laminate it all and add velcro so the children can add the relevant bits. I have also done their names with a small picture to fit in the extra spaces to serve as self registration. Seems a bit OTT I know but with Ofsted coming soon.... Anyway, if anyone has a link or a set that includes wind, sun, rain and cloud at least but preferably snow too I'd be very grateful. Daily_c…

Anybody got any good stories with hedgehogs in? Also looking for cute hedgehog pictures in colour in. Why? Well when we go back and open as a foundation unit all key workers have a group related to characters in Percy the Park Keeper. My group is hedgehogs also squirrels, moles, badgers and foxes. Don`t know what the children will think but the staff are rather excited!!! Thought it was a change from colour groups and will probaly add a bit of humour when we start calling for our groups. Thanks.

I have been making a welcome poster for at home (as a childminder) and found this site http://www.elite.net/~runner/jennifers/welcome.htm I wanted to use the languages that are most likely to be spoken here (which TBH isn't many) but have a question... I realise that the likelihood of Chinese and Travelling families using a minder is very very low but even so, as well as Portugese, these are the main 2 other 'cultures' here. I have put Mandarin on my poster but wondered what others have? Also there are various different Traveller languages - altho the ones here seem to speak English. So wish I hadn't started and had just bought one ready made and taken the cho…

Help - I Need Some Sticky Shapes!
by Guest- 4 replies

Hi everyone I have been trying to find some sticky shapes to help children identify their trays etc in Reception. I thought someone out there might know where I can find such things?? I was thinking of something like gummed paper that is in the shape of a train or duck or something similar that is really simple and visual and could then be removed once children can recognise their own names more readily. Has anyone seen anything like this (or am I talking round in circles and making no sense at all????!!) I thought it would be nice to have 5 different shapes in 6 colours, so that children would have to identify their shape and colour. If not it's back to the …

We intend using a persona doll/ puppet for PHSE and other activities within the classroom this year. I understand you need to give them a life?! as in a background that the children can relate to. I was thinking along the lines of a photo album of Poppy at the library, at the park, at Tescos on a bus etc that we could use throughout the year and add to depending on children's ideas. Has anyone done anything along these lines or have any other ideas? Thanks Sharon and Poppy P.S She loved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and we didn't get too many strange looks!!!

Somewhere I have seen some photocopiable resources for role play. They were sets of laminated cards for certain themes with writing frames that can be used in role play areas. We have the books from Sound learning already but this was from someone else - but I can't find then to order them. Anyone know where I have seen them? Please help! Sue

This may be of interest to those of you who plan around topics. I received a mailshot from the Fisher-Price Professional Support Programme, announcin that they are launching a new website at www.playlaughgrow.co.uk. I've had a quick look but it's not all up & running yet. It has an Introduction, a Planning Sheet, Extension Ideas, Activity Templates and Take Home Parent Sheet for each module. There will be eight modules initially. Registration is free. There will be special offers for their toys. Look in the professional section.
