Early Vision Role Play Resources
by Guest- 6 replies

Hi all, I read in yesterdays TES about some people who have put together videos which support role play by introducing the children to the situations and characters they can have a go at taking on when they set up a real life role play area. I thought this seems a great idea, but looking at the website today, which is www.earlyvision.co.uk the packs for each 'theme' are £39.99, which is pretty expensive. I wonder if anyone has bought/seen any of these or if anyone could offer their opinion as to whether they seem worth the money! I do find it a problem that children often don't know how to take on roles in the r/play area, and teaching in a village school it'…

And I can't remember which thread the original discussion was on either, hence the new topic! Can anyone help, give a link or just tell me where I'm supposed to be looking? Yours hopefully, Dianne

Does anyone out there teach ina church school? I teach at a Catholic Primary school and follow a syllabus called 'Here I Am' which some of you may be familiar with. However, my problem is that the R.E topic does not always fit in with the overall topic. This first half term for example, our overall topic was 'Journeys' which covers knowledge and understanding+cross curricular but within this time the RE was Myself and Invitations. Next, half term our over all topic is 'Colour and Light' (so we'll be doing the obvious Autumn based activities and christmas) but we also have to continue Invitations (which starts off relating to their own experience-we invited all the new…

Hi everyone! I was sure there had been a discussion on here recently about sensory gardens but I can't find it! Am I mistaken? Or perhaps you can give me a pointer someone about how to start such a project? Are there any commercial organisations that would cost and plan such a venture?

Circle Of Friends
by Guest- 3 replies

Hi Has anybody partcicipated in the 'circle of friends' training lead by Colin Newton and Derek Wilson? The session involved discussing how vital a peer group relationships were, both positive and negative (reinforcing the idea of the naughty child). The importance of frindships was paramount, especially if family backgrounds were unstable. As I understood the session it involves peer group support with the consent of the child displaying challenging behaviours. Without the consent and participation of the child the group cannot exist. The peer group offer support and ideas for supporting the child with the adult acting as a facilatator. I have just partcipated in…
