So, chunky or thin pencils - it's often suggested that my class use chunky pencils but it sometimes seems to me that they can be too big for little fingers to get themselves round and hold properly. What are the fors/againsts using them? Are there particular situations when they 'should' be used? I actually like to have all sorts so that children can choose whichever they want to use but wondered if I should be encouraging them in a particular direction?

Just in case you've forgotten or if you dont know about it, the FSF have a facebook page. Its been rather dormant over the last year but Inge has revived it and is putting on some links to some wonderful sites. Pop along and have a look, its at https://www.facebook.com/groups/46864964370/ You'll need to wait to be accepted, but I dont think it'll take too long. There really are some inspirational ideas on there, I'm pinching most of them for our playgroup page (!)

Ive been given some money to improve and enhance our small construction for 2-5yrs (plus up to 11 years will use it) and was given Mobilo or duplo as suggestion, but looking through im not that keen on Mobilo. We have some duplo, kid knex, stickle brix... but only basic sets. We need something with wheels etc. I was wondering what everyones opinions are on sets out there... are there any that you would recommend and why? Thanks :1b

Can any of you suggest some books for children who have new baby sibilings due soon. One of the 4 year olds has become very clingy in the setting and at home. This is a wide age range of children - age 3, 4, and 8 so books to suit these ages would be super. Many thanks.
