I would like to organise an'experience'day for pre-school but am finding it really hard to track anyone down in the berkshire area who will come in to pre-school for 2-5 year olds. I had thought of minibeasts etc but would really rather have music based if poss (much more this groups thing!) Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Flour Play

Can I have some advice please? Our SIP visited on friday and was horrified that during a planned cooking activity we were 'allowing' a child who has additional needs and was not interested in the activity to play with a small bowl of dry flour. She said the dust was dangerous. is she right. its so frustrating when you find something at last that you can engage a child with, only to be told, no. Really value everyones thoughts and expertise. Thanks.

Nearly all of our items are natural wood and i would like to continue this. We have chosen not to have much static equipment as it does not allow for change very easily and we prefer open ended resources that allow children to adapt and change them for their own purpose.....this is what is now posing me some problems. I really need to extend our climbing and balancing equipment but am finding it really difficult to source something that fulfills all our wishes. I have seen a couple of things but they are SO expensive...realistically i …

My Deputy has stated that she feels our home corner is just not working from the point of view of what children are doing with it. We have a microwave, fridge with a cupboard above (took the door off as it was too hard to open!), cooker, sink and washing machine. We do use real pans - frying pans and microwave type and little mugs/beakers, plates and cutlery. Into our fridge we have put egg cartons, yoghurt and cottage cheese tubs, butter tub, cardboard box showing the picture of a cooked pie and then in the cupboard above things like porridge oats box, cornflour tub (great for exploring how it opens up!). In the oven we have a bun tray with buns in it and below the s…
