i am trying to plan an outside area for september. we would like to have some sort of covering over an area to create an all weather space (i have some ideas for this but any others appreciated) but it is the flooring i am trying to work out. My first thought was decking but i am worried that this may get very slippy when wet. The rest of the garden will be grass so this may be the only area for bikes /trikes etc too Any ideas? and anything i should definitely avoid? Thank you

Help! Need Efficient Supplier!

I have just spent or should I say wasted most of the morning trying to order 2 items worth over £300 from a well known educational supplier. The website was awful, and the phone team didn't seem to be able to answer simple questions. After an hour of frustration I was told that one item was not in stock and would take 8 weeks to order!! So as you can imagine I have cancelled the order. I was only going with them because they claimed to have the 2 items, and also they would set us up a credit account. Can anyone recommend me a good, efficient supplier of preschool stuff with an easy to use website and credit account facilities? I'm not mentioning which compa…

Snack Time Tablemats

We asked all the children to do a handprint on a piece of paper with their own symbol at the top of the page and a little poem all about handprints. This was laminated and we use it everyday in place of plates at snack time. However we have a problem with storage - let me explain. We need some way of the children accessing these tablemats before they sit down at the table. We use a trolley to serve the food on but this comes up to the room after the children have sat down at the table (our kitchen is not in the same room as the playroom but down the hallway). We were thinking of something along the lines of a rack that could sit in its own right on a table but it …

Hi there, after spending over an hour looking on the internet and through educational resource catalogues i cannot find the mysterious H blocks. I'm not sure that their correct name is that but we have always called them that in our setting. they are about 7-8 cms long and green or yellow in colour. I would like to restock our diminishing supplies but don't know where to start...anyone out there know what i'm talking about and what they maybe called or where i could find them? They are very popular amongst our young children.

Dressing Up Clothes

We are working with pre-preschool children and are wondering if we could do more to improve our dressing up area. At present we have out a Barbie dress and a carnival skirt. Since January we have had out little coats, hats and gloves as well as boilersuits. We are now moving out of winter into spring and just wondered what we could change about this area. Our focus will be on growth and in particular have a farming theme running through the next 2 months. We have a problem in that 1 little girl loves putting on the dress nearly every day and there is a bit of competition between 2 others to be there first!! Any help with suggestions and possible places for locat…

We have been advised to have a book for each area of learning ie blocks, home area, arts and crafts etc and having difficulty sourcing the correct ones. Does anyone have any suggestions. I am going to try Amazon but really not sure what to be looking for exactly.
