Coat Hooks

While I was off sick our EY advisor visited. Her report says the coat pegs could pose a safety hazard and reccomends that they are changed. They are standard double hooks screwed to a baton on the wall at a height the children can reach. A few hooks had snapped off which I could see is a hazard and woiuld have replaced them with similar, but my deputy is adamant that this is not the whole problem. She says it is the design. I've never worked in a setting with anything different so what do you suggest and what is the risk assessment on coat hooks? Alwyn

Resources To Support Delvery Of Ffe

I have the opportunity to apply for a small grant - up to £3500 - to 'support the delivery of the flexible entitlment' and 'enable flexible delivery of the 15 hour entitlement' We are a pack away preschool operating mornings only. From this September our hours have been extendedd by 15 minutes to offer 3 hours per day so 15 hours over the 5 sessions. At present its whole sessions only. Any ideas what we might claim for? My chairman is talking about redecoration, replacing the carpet with floorboards, additional storage none of which I can really see fit the criteria but all are needed. Alwyn

Hey - just wondering if anyone has painted their own concrete floor for their playground (racing track, hopscoth, number lines etc.). The price of professional companies seems outrageous and I know the designs I want already. Have seen prices to hire line markers and know which paints to buy but just wondered if anyone has tried it already and had disastrous effects or been successful and have any tips! Thanks Fluffy Lamb

Where Can I Get Some Cheap Material?
by Guest- 13 replies

I'm looking for something to enclose areas of my classroom, but in a way that doesn't hide them completely from my view. Does anyone know of a good place to get sheets or lengths of gauze or chiffon-y type material that I could attach to the ceiling as a drape? I’ll have to pay for them myself so it would be good if they weren’t too expensive!

Hi all, hoping you can help me here- for my eyp baby placement they have asked if I can help set up a quiet area in the baby room, somewhere the group (adults and babies) can also join together for simple circle times- singing, quick story etc I have shown them my CFS packaway book as thought there would be some useful, cost-effective ideas that we can try out and am going to attempt some sort of canopy/den tomorrow but they like the look of the big 'dog baskets' that also feature at Penn Green having seen piccies of the toddler room there. Have done a quick search online on the likes of amazon and ebay but they seem a bit pricey (£30/40+ for large wicker baskets with pa…

I'm planning on having a bit of a play with my neary 4 and nearly 6 year old while it's the summer holidays and do some mosaic-ing outside, decorating pots and paving slabs. I just wondered what kind of adhesive to use to attach the tiles and other bits and pieces I've got, like glass beads, cogs, shells etc. Not sure what is strong and good for outside but also safe for children to use? I'm sure loads of you have done this with children before and could advise me on what to use! Thank you as always! xx
