I bought one of those dark dens (cube-shaped tent type thing which blocks out all light). Here's a picture so you can see what I'm on about! Brought it into nursery this week for the first time and within a day the window in the side was under strain and by the end of the week the fabric has completely torn. I was wondering if anyone else has one and if they have had any problems with it? I don't think our children are particularly rough but it is from an educational supplier so I would expect it to stand up to being used by a group of children rather than just one or two in a home environment. I'm going to write/email customer services to see what they say…

I work in a sessional pack away pre-school and one of areas we want to develop next term is the entrance area for parents. Currently we have a parents board in the pre-school which we are allowed to keep up but in the entrance there is a folder of information and a message board that go away at the end. Has anybody got any suggestions for what we can do to make it more interactive/parent friendly and so parents actually look at the information. I have thought about getting some kind of display board to display information, any suggestions where we can buy these?? They have to be fairly light as they will have to go away at the end of the session. Also i want to p…

Hi I am currently in the process of putting in a bid to the authority to develop my outdoor area, looking at a canopy, fixed chalk boards, wall mounted perspex boards, some raised beds for planting etc but what I am really interested in knowing is that if you had carte blanche to surface your outdoors, what would you have? I currently have concrete slabs. I was thinking of having some grass, maybe some decking but was looking for other ideas. have been put off woodchip by colleagues telling me about everything that might live in there but thought it sounded quite nice! Any ideas?

One of my staff has begun to create a library of activity boxes. (washing powder tablet boxes covered with sticky backed plastic) The boxes each have a theme and include some of Instructions/materials for science experiments Fact cards Picture cards to talk about Rhymes/ stories A bit like story sacks really. The idea is that parents can borrow them to work with at home. So far we have a butter box (making butter), a bubble box and a bug box. Any more ideas? Al

I really need to replace our small world people (and our cars, and our farm... but I'll start with the people!) I wondered if you have any favourite companies / types of small world people to recommend, so I spend my money as wisely as possible! I am replacing playmobil (very few of them have hair left - who knows where it disappears to!) and some wooden dolls house dolls who are just a little tired out. Any particular gems you can recommend? Thanks!

Hello! I wondered if anyone has heard of Environment Rating Scales? I was hoping that somebody could shed some light on what to expect for my forthcoming audit. I am trying to get bits 'n' pieces together beforehand and find out what is expected.
