I was at ASDA in Slough yesterday and spotted this whilst browsing in the toy department. Since we're looking for more multi-cultural resources in particular and dolls in particular, this leapt out at me. I was unimpressed when I saw it (and because of the noise levels I couldn't hear the doll speak when I pressed its feet), but I just did a quick search before bedtime and saw that they have four different models available to represent Asian, Oriental and European cultures. Apparently you can buy different language cartridges too, and from what I can see they are aimed at helping children learn different languages, or at the very least, hear their home languages spoken…

Does anyone have a blank format to create an action plan for the whole nursery? I have recently taken over another nursery and whilst they have it for different areas I am trying to create an overview action plan that encompasses the whole setting, the EYFS and welfare requirements. Any help much appreciated!!! Thanks

Hi I wondered what sort of independent outdoor activities you have done that have worked-well looking at measuring/comparing length. It is for 4-5yrs olds, I am doing an adult led activity outside and want other activities that they can explore on their own. Many thanks, in advance!

Hi everyone I am starting a new role in a few weeks and popped into the nursery today (which was fab), one of the areas could do with a bit of a re-vamp and wondering what you had in your book corners in your setting... the area is used for storytime/book sharing, dressing up clothes and nap times. I think perhaps having some really nice large displays about a few of the favourite books the chidlren like which they can all participate in putting together, photos of the children sharing books etc..the area is at the back of the room which is quite a nice quiet area..there are a few cushions but was after any ideas of making the area more inviting and comfy- any sugge…

I liked the look of the 'What it's like to be 2,3,4' etc books by Jennie Lindon but I'm always spending money and then wondering if it was really worth it and that I knew all that anyway. Has anyone got these and do you think they were a useful buy?

A parent has told me that she believes that her little boy - aged 4 - is an 'Indigo Child'. This was a complete unknown to me - so have been looking at various websites - wondered whether any of my 'virtual' friends have come across this and would be willing to share their experiences. Sunnyday
