Outdoor Storage

Hi, We are lucky enough to be completely revamping our outdoor classroom. One of the main changes we hope to make is to enable more child initiated play. In order to do this, our resources need to be easily accessed by the children. We have sheds outside but they are not particularly child friendly. I was wondering if anyone has easy accessible storage for children. We were thinking of some sort of cupboard/shed that has space for boxes that could be labelled for easy access. Any experience or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! x x

Hi everyone Hope everyone has had a lovly day today it is absolutely scorching today in Liverpool, dont want to go back to work tomorrow . Anyway a week on tuesday we have got our R.E. OFSTED inspection and we are teaching the topic 'Good News' from the Here I Am scheme of work. I am really struggling of ideas to do with my display on this topic and was wondering if anybody had any suggestions and wouldnt mind sharing them with me. The main gist of the topic is to talk about good news in the first week and deliver good news to each and receive good news from others. In the second week when the inspectors will be watching we are focusing more on the good news of th…

Does anyone have a risk assessment they've done for climbing trees? We've got two very low trees in our garden that the children have lately taken to climbing into. In the past the school's unofficial policy has always been no to this, but I could see it was safe and that the children were using the trees as an integral part of their play, so have spoken with HT and she agreed it was fine as long as I produce a risk assessment for it. Just wondered if anyone had one to hand - risk assessments are my absolutely least favourite thing to do!

Hi everyone Dissertation due in on the 24 april and while i have carried out all my interviews they were all in the same setting, in hindsight i realized i woulda got a better picture going round a few different schools but as time doesn't permit this i would really apprciate it if you could just take a few mins to fill in my interview questions. The general consensus found in the setting i went to is that there is alot more national curriculum in reception that should be this was mainly due to downward pressure and lack of space. Also it became apparent that the move from nursery to reception was in fact going to be much more of a jump then from reception to key …

Hi everyone - hope you are all having a good Easter weekend! After half term at the children's request we are going to be exploring mini beasts! Have you any idea where i can buy some decent mini beast models in quite a large quantity for them to play with? I thought that mini beast would lend itself well to sorting and classifying, comparing groups counting legs etc so i want them to be a bit real looking if you see what i mean. Thanks ems

Just wondering how over teachers start their new year with their foundationstage classes. Our school has 2 classes per year group and we put the children into classes before september. This usually works well. That is until this year. My class is top heavy with behavioural issues and special needs. I wouldn't change them for the world, but wondered does anyone else start the new term by not giving the children a set class? It has been suggested that our 60 children start for a month and we get to know them and then put them into a class. Not sure how i feel about this as this would have a knock on effect for home visits and record keeping etc. Would love to hear your idea…
