I need to put together six handouts, one for each area of learning, to give out to parents at an evening we're having about activities to promote the children's learning and development. What I want to include is ideas for activities at home, "WOW" moments related to each of the areas, etc.etc. Has anyone done anything similar that they would care to share or does anyone know of any fab websites to look at??

Hi My class are really enjoying learning about the cold weather and the cold and frosty days we have had over the last week has fired their imaginations. We read a book the other day about penguins etc and lots of the children have been talking about the south pole asking where it is etc. I have bought a huge map today as ours were all tatty and a bit too small and we can look at that but i also want to show them pictures etc about the south pole so they can do some mind mapping about what they think the south pole would be like, what they would need to go there etc. Any ideas where i can get some more information from - ideally would like to do this on Monday as they h…

Hi Our school is "expanding" and we are having a new school built on a new site (hopefully for Sept. 2010). We are going from one-form entry to two form entry (Nursery - KS3/4). Actually nursery will be three classrooms! Dimensions for each of the classrooms are 90m2. My question to you is, what would you want if your classrooms/outdoor areas were being built from scratch. What resources are the ones you would be without? Money, no object (theoretically, at least). For starters I will suggest wooden furniture and moveable furniture (not fixed to walls) - community playthings. Mostly tiled flooring and a smaller carpeted area. I want low level display board…

Dear all We are a pack away pre school and have been manhandling a rather nice sand / water play pool purchased following some grant money received in 2005. We have seen the light and have now received funds for a lighter more collapsible sand tray .... this means our exisiting one - very good condition - would like a new home. The item in question is currently in the Galt sale - item no G1AN6003H at £100 + VAT. It would suit any nursery or group who don't have to pack away and is robust enough to be in an outdoor area permanently - it has a lid etc. I would like to be able to offer it free to a good home but some contribution to our play group funds would b…
