I've just had my update email from ICAN and they've published a 'Communication Cookbook' with activities to promote children's language, communication and writing skills. There are also online activities and games to play and download. The book itself is published in July and each primary school can get one free copy. Copies for parens and families will be available at a later date. Here's the link for you to order your copy (I'm not sure if a pre-school can order one but I haven't got time to have a good look and find out! Will be interested to know if anyone orders it and what its like when they get it! Maz

Hi We were looking at making some coloured sand sculptures like you can get in the isle of wight. Does anyone know where i can get cheap coloured sand or some small bottles. We have tried making the coloured sand by colouring salt, this does work well so may be an option but we need some bottles to put them in. any ideas?

I am thinking of making some activity bags for parents to borrow but does anyone have any good ideas of things that have worked well? I was thinking of all the obvious traditional tales and rhymes with accompanying puppets etc, but also some games or other fun things just to encourage the parent and child to enjoy quality time together

As part of preparing our oldest children for school in September I'd like to teach them some playground games. Playtime is often the scariest part of the school day and I thought it would help them settle more quickly. Can you give me some suggestions of what is currently played in the playground?

Hi Wondered if anybody can remember a post many moons ago from someone on here showing how to make display lettering using the computer and simply changing the font to 'outline' or something like that, so the letters could easily be cut around? Thanks

Hi everybody! I'm not sure if i am putting in this in the right forum but hope that someone can help!?! I work in the Foundation Stage room and lucky for me it has just been re-painted looking fresh and clean again and covering up all the bare patches where the blue tac has pulled the paint off...this is where Stick-a-pics come in. I recently saw an advert for them...'brightly coloured, shaped sticky-fixers made with a unique technology which means they can adhere to most surfaces and then be cleanly removed without damage to surfaces and artwork.' BUT i can't find them anywhere!!! Have searched the internet looked on the website they are SUPPOSED to be on...has or does …

I have got an interview and need to do 10 minute presentation. Could I ask people what their immediate thoughts are I should include. I was quite pleased with the title!! "How would you support and challenge practitioners in implementing the Foundation Stage" Also would you do a powerpoint.I have been informed you can or either flipchart or overhead or nothing if you prefer. I am thinking of doing a powerpoint and if it was you would you include photographs? Thanks everyone for any advice or ideas you may give me.

As it is national recycling week this week we are basing our topic on this subject. We are taking the children out in small groups every day to the recycling bins near to our setting and putting something in each one. We are talking to them about household waste etc etc etc....................... What I would like is a certificate to give to the children at the end of the week to say that they have taken part in National recycling week. Does anyone have a certificate I could use. Have had a quick look on sparkle box but couldn't find.
