Peter Dixon

I've read a few threads on here from people who have read some of Peter Dixon's poems and articles and have been trying to get hold of some for a few weeks. I've finally tracked down and been able to buy his book called "Let Me Be - a book for parents, teachers and all those concerned about early years education". I would thoroughly recommend it - it's full of useful ( if alarming) facts, Peter's poems and general "ammunition"against the rising tide of policies, statistics, targets, etc. being applied to early years at the expense of allowing children a "proper" childhood!! Extremely readable and easy to dip in and out of. I got mine from Amazon - although it said …

Have any of you heard of a book 'remembering the rules'? Unfortunately, i don't have a lot of information about it. I was turning out some paperwork and found some photocopies of pages from this book amongst some behaviour management information. At the bottom of the page it just states the title and thats it! The activities look really good so i am trying to track it down. I have tried on Amazon and come up with this but it doesnt show a picture so i am not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Next term we are going to be working (loosely) within the topic of traditional tales and was wondering whether anyone could suggest some alternative versions that we could use for the children. We have already found copies of Once upon a time and the Jolly Postman, but thought you would have lots of other ideas....... Thanks Elfy x

Just went to order some mirrors from the Reflections on Learing website, completed all the documentation, created a new web account, paid with my debit card... Just checked my junk inbox and there's an email from Reflections on Learning thanking me for opening an account and offering me a £10 discount on my first order over £75! So, if any of you are thinking of buying stuff and don't have an account with them already, go on line and register first and wait to see if they offer you a discount voucher code before placing your first order. The web address is I'm off to have another look at that portable light box which suddenly looks a lot more attractive w…

Hi Have recently spent lots of money at school on avariety of ICT equipment as part of our speaking and listening programme (fancy CD coombers/ blue movie makers/ digital camera for every class- 8 classes in total), which (breathe) as a school team we decided we needed!!! However my favourite item was the cheapest item (well apart from the coomber as my previous one was broken and this lovely new one takes CD's). Its called a talking tin lid and was originally designed for the RNIB. It looks like a chunky tin lid and surprise fits onto a tin. The person can record a short message (30 seconds- actually quiet long when you use it in a focussed way) describing what i…

Hi, can anyone help or point me in the right direction. I'm looking for pictures to make a 'positive behaviour' poster, i.e. remember to walk, have kind hands etc. I could make one using the children in the setting, but if I could find some pictures to download and print off that would be great & save me time!!!! many thanks mrsb
