Dear All, Working my way through Preparing for GDPR, and Staff carrying documents has come up. I know essentially nothing should leave the site however we are a nursery and preschool fully intregrated within a school. School staff and EY staff (not Nursery) have personal laptops that may contain information such as class lists, Parent consultation forms, Reports etc. I personally work from home 2 days of the week and my Teachers handbook and laptop travel with me each day to ensure i have what i need, these currently have all the information i need to effectively manage the EY's. How do i go about this while also being compliant with GDPR an…

Hi there, someone mentioned in another thread that there were dongles you could buy (for about £7) that put an additional layer of security on to the laptop...I think it said you could only start the laptop with the dongle in, so if the laptop was stolen (without the dongle!) theres no way of logging into the laptop. Does any one have a link to a website that sells these please? I must be googling the wrong term as I cant find anything that seems to do this.... Any help appreciated! Thanks! :-)

Having just found Rebecca's wonderful input numbers 1-7 on doing our GDPA, I realised I missed a lot of information that is already on here. Thought I'd start a thread where people can add any thoughts or ideas about what they are doing in preparation. (have to admit it's taken me about an hour to work out how to start a new thread - so you can understand how Ive actually managed to miss whole junks of useful information)

The government has released a helpful document that will help you in your decision making process as far as information sharing is concerned. This flowchart (from p12) is particularly useful I think.

As some of you lovely people know I also (as well as being part of the FSF team) have my own setting ... I thought it might be 'fun' to compare 'To Do' lists! I've done some of these things, but by no means all! GDPR Audit GDPR staff meeting #1 explaining to everyone why I'm rummaging through staff files etc. GDPR staff meeting #2 to update and discuss with staff what changes to policies and procedures we need to make: clear desk policy, amend close down and opening procedures as more items need to be locked away, remind of professional conduct, confidentiality, home working Write to all 3rd party providers to check their GDPR compliance status a…

Hi everyone First time poster and I appreciate any advice given. Currently we have all of our staff members wearing name badges, this is obviously beneficial for our setting and we have found it to help new parent's remember names etc. The issue I think we have is there may be too much information on the badges, currently for example the badges will read as follows: John Smith NVQ Level 3 Nursery Nurse Nursery/Setting Name Is this too much information or does it fall under the fact that the data is in a controlled environment? i.e inside the nursery. They also obviously have the full name on their badge, is t…
