My school has just begun to expand our remote learning to include live streaming sessions. So far with my mixed Nursery/Reception class I have done 'Show and Tell' and 'Put on a Show!' but I am running out of ideas fast of what to try next!!!!! We are not currently using this platform to teach, just to promote social interaction for the children. Any ideas anyone?!! xx Thanks :)

Alistair Bryce-Clegg has written Looking forward, going back, an article that looks at how we can build on the good practice we have as we return to a new learning year and all the adaptations we are having to make in the face of the pandemic. Sometimes enforced changes can help us to hold onto the good and reflect on what we can improve on. Are there any aspects of your own practice that you feel you will adapt, or any that you know you will hold onto?

Hello, I'm looking for some advice so how Reception practitioners are being asked to set up their learning environments for September. We have been informed by management that our children need to be forward facing, matching the guidance for the rest of the school. Has anyone got any evidence from guidance that it is okay for me to ensure our environments are set up as 'normal'? So with groups of tables with resources available, for child-initiated learning. Obviously the careful selecting of resources, as we are doing so now for cleaning will continue. I'm struggling to even work out how we will operate if having to all be forward facing, considering the stage of th…

The education team recently recorded a podcast episode with BBC Education executive producer Joe McCulloch. He has been working on the Tiny Happy People initiative, launched last week with help from the Duchess of Cambridge. Listen in and you'll hear about the research that goes into creating Tiny Happy People, the families and professionals they work with, and what Tiny Happy People hopes to achieve for children's language development, as well as what the website has to offer practitioners and parents and carers. Have you used any of the Tiny Happy People resources to support your children and families? How do you inform and support parents and carers about the vit…

Hi, We have many parents who are unsure as to whether or not their child will be returning to pre-school on 1st June. If a week or so after we are open they decide to send their child into pre-school can they join existing bubbles if the numbers allow or would we have to look at starting a new bubble? Many thanks

With the return to school imminent, what are teacher's putting in place for the children in early years? I was thinking of putting some packs together for each child so that they have a set of their own resources that they can use. For example: · Each child has a pack with the following items: - Whiteboard and pen - Pot of playdough- - Pencil - Set of crayons - Tweezers and little things to pick up - Set of number cards Also the children will need toys so I was thinking of a box of a select few toys that can be easily cleaned at the end of the day and through…
