Sorry to sound so depressing but I don't know if I can cope with this course. I'm totally only doing the foundation degree because I am a supervisor and ofsted are making it compulsory to have an eyp in each setting. I only started in September so really I shouldn't be getting negative about it but I feel it all goes over my head, I've not been in education for *cough* 15 years *cough* lol My homework for this week is to find articles or show "how Chris Athey's theory links to practice". I just don't know where to start, I've searched the forum and found lots of info on her actual theory but nothing on how it links to practice - maybe I'm just being dim? …

I am really getting into the habit of reading something every night to prepare meself for the foundation course, which I am starting next year. Just was wondering how everyone manages to take in the information when reading and how do you record information? How to pick out the important parts? Any tips I would really appriciate your advice.

Have previously posted and had no answers, not sure if the title put folks off so am starting it again........... I know you guys won't ignore a cry for help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can someone please help???!!! I am at the beginning of the second year of my degree and I am supposedly doing a summative evaluation of the first year of the course: a performance self appraisal. My problem is that SMART targets or a SWOT have been suggested as starting points. I have listed my strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) and still feel no happier about coming up with a SMART target or 4 (!!) which will then lead to specific targets for action with…

Ok, I have gone and done it now! For our BA we were given the choice NOT to do a dissertation this year ( I think they made a cock-up, but decided they would have to honour it!), however, it then was brought up by our main tutor, who suggested that although we don't HAVE to, it might nevertheless be good to. It would be a 10,000 word subject, worth 120 points and i think would mean I could concentrate on one subject, rather than two others? So, I found myself saying 'yes' to it, without really having completely thought about it.Now my tutor has agreed that a dissertaion is a good idea.......and I have come up with a couple of ideas: looking at schemas or children's adven…

Hi there, thank you all to all those whom have time to read this. I have just completeed the first of the Fda in childcare and education, and have just found out via a less than positive talk with my tutor that i have not made it through to the second year of my degree. The words she used were that i was a failure and that i would not be admitted back for the first year ( to repeat it, i mean) and could not attend that uni again but could attend others. She also said that i could appeal but told me not to bother as the board would just view me as a failure, she did not know my marks as she said; "she had no facts to hand" and kept on insisting that i had not handed in any…

Hello everyone I am new to this forum and it looks really good. This is the second time I have wrote this, because I thought I had sent it, but it just disappeared. I am a Family Support Outreach worker for a Surestart Children Centre and really enjoy it. It is the best job I have done so far. The reason I am writing on here is because I am feeling really low at the moment. I applied for a place on the FdA Early Years Care And Education for 09 at my local university and was feeling really excited about doing it. I have just hard they are full and there is a waiting list of 10 other people. I was utterly disappointed and been trying to pick myself up again, b…

Can someone please help???!!! I am at the beginning of the second year of my degree and I am supposedly doing a summative evaluation of the first year of the course.: a performance self appraisal. My problem is that SMART targets or a SWOT have been suggested as starting points. I have listed my strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) and still feel no happier about coming up with a SMART target or 4 (!!) which will then lead to specific targets for action within a specified time frame. Once I get this far theres an essay to write!!!!!!! So I chose one target : I have little time for sitting with my set texts and reading/ making notes …
