Academic Poster

I'm mentoring a work colleague who has just started the Foundation Degree - she's been asked to produce an "academic poster" about a chosen health initiative and has been told that it's not like a "normal" poster for the wall. What is it then? Can anyone shed some light on the kind of thing she is meant to produce? It's a new one on me!

Dissertation Topic

Hi All, Almost completed my 2nd year of foundation degree and the time has come to look forward to the 3rd year and dissertation topic. I have an idea and thought the best peeps to run it by are members of the faithful forum. I intend to research whether it is Developmentally inappropriate to teach phonics to under 5's. I had a recent visit from my Early Years Advisory Teacher who stated it was, so thought I would look what Foundation Teachers, Reception Teachers, Nurseries, Pre Schools, Parents opinions were and look at research from other professionals. Any opinions would be gratefully received. Net x

Assignment Help
by Guest- 7 replies

I am currently doing an assignment that goes like this: Describe in detail two social and/or cultural factors that could impact upon the lives of young children and their families. I have chosen poverty as one, but i am really not sure about the other factor. I have to relate the effect these factors could have on families in my nursery setting. Then go on to describe one strategy in detail to help families effected by one of my chosen factors. I am feeling a bit bogged down. I would be really grateful if anyone has got any pointers that could help me out?

Hi Just wondering if any others members are studying E215 , as I,ve just started on this the final leg of the Foundation Degree with the OU. I'm in a slight pickle as when speaking to the OU support they seem to be ok with the fact I had changed jobs. NOW when looking at the course materials it seems a lot harder than I thought. I've gone from being a full-time nursery manager to a part time early years + family development co-ordinator, pre-school committee member and mother! Does aybody have any advice on Professional Development Plans as I'm now unsure how to develop this from my old one as I have been on maternity leave since then and the job change. Sa…

Different Degree Courses
by Guest- 3 replies

Hi I have recentley found out that their are 2 early years degree courses you can do at college but both give the same qualification at the end of it. One is early years and education and the other is early years and science..... this doesn't make sense to me.... the early years and science seems to be the easier option, they don't have to do nearly as much work as you do on the education course.. i know people doing the scenece course and they say it is so easy no pressure, not many assignments but everyone i speak to who is doing the education complain about how much they have to do and the pressure they are under. How can both qualifications give the same degree at the…

Morning all. I am very new to the foundation degree (4 weeks in) and know that my current reading matter isn't going to get me through this course!!!! (I am talking fiction to escape off into!!) I have bought some books.. used tips on here from folks who have already done/ started their degree and the rest of the books on the reading lists for these early modules I have borowed or reserved from the library. I also know I need to be using a wider source for materials........ which journals would you suggest? Any places on line that have been SO fantastic I really should take a peek?????????? Any thoughts would be VERY gratefully received!!!!! Thank…
