Hi, I am wanting to start the foundation degree this year and can not decide whether to do the OU course or apply to college. I know it will be quicker to do the college couse but I'm guessing workload is heavier. Also timing could be difficult attending college in the evening if hubbie is away. However am concerned the OU route will take foreverif I want to do the BA honours as well. Also worried funding will change again as only each section is funded at a time. Would appreciate fors/againsts for both routes. Thanks.

Foundation Degree Funding

I'm thinking about doing a foundation degree but the courses in my local area dont fit in with my family committments so I was thinking about trying the OU. Just wondered if you can get the funding in the same way as for courses at local colleges. I know lots of you are doing it through the OU. I cant afford to do the course if there is no funding. It will have to go on my to do list for later. Thanks Sally

HI, I am due to finish E123 and E124 in May, I was just wondering for those of you who are also due to finish E123 and E124 in May, have you thought about what your next Foundation Degree course wil be, I am thinking about doing E115. I was also wondering what is the time scale before I can register for E115, as I am not sure if I have to wait to mkae sure I pass E123 and E124 before i can register for the next course. I will have to phone the OU and find out. Good luck to everyone who is just starting the E123 and E124, I am sure you will find the topics very interesting and very thought provoking. Rosepetal

Want To Complete My Degree Sooner

Hi I am studying for my degree and emailed my tutor to ask if I can hand in my assignments earlier than the due date as I am in a hurry to complete the degree. I was told I can hand them in early but they will not be returned to me until the cut off date therefore I have to take the full amount of time to finish the degree. This seems unfair as I have the time to do them now and want to move on to another course to further my career but am now unable to . Has anyone else come across this or wanted to complete sooner? Tracey

Hi all, Im currently in my second year of the BA Hons in Early Childhood Studies. Previous to this I worked as a Nursery Nurse in day nurseries working with children between the ages of 0-5. I thoroughly enjoyed working in the day nurseries, however, due to a bad experience in one particuar day nursery I decided I wanted to train to become an Early Years teacher and so therefore embarked on a full time degree course with the vision of doing my pgce afterwards (lots of people were always saying i would make a good teacher!!!!). Whilst doing my degree course I also work in a primary school as a voluntary classroom assistant in both the nursery and reception classes.…

Is anyone doing the E230. I am a bit stuck on some bits. What is scary is that the tutor stated in her tutorial notes reasons why some of her past students have failed. Oh dear??? Feeling very worried now.
