Hi all, well after many weeks considering whether to go for it, I finally made up my mind today - completed and posted the application to my LA for funding today and telephoned the OU to make enquiries about Registering for the FD to start in October. Just waiting for the OU pack to arrive so that I can read a bit more about it, and then if funding is available Register on the course. Would love any advice from any of you who are doing the same OU route this year. How do they make an initial assessment to see if you are 'fit' for the course?

This is a child protection/abuse question and I wanted to warn you so as not to cause upset Just a quick question for my latest assignment (the last one!) I am writing about the non-accidental death of Ainlee Labonte for my child protection assignment and was wondering if seizures and breathing difficulties would be a sign/symptom of non-organic failure to thrive? I don't suppose anyone would know, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to where I could look to find out. I have tried Google and Ask but I must be typing the wrong thing into the search box because I keep getting results linked to starving children in third world countries. Thanks in ad…

Hi, I posted my application to do the Foundation Degree at college on Tuesday, can't believe it, i got a phone call today to ask me for an interview tomorrow ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I have managed to get the morning of work. I have been told i will have a 20 mins interview and then a twenty mins written test ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. The advice i need is, has anyone else done the interview and completed the test. I am not looking for answers, its just an insight as to what i might have to write an essay about. I am fine with writing essays, (well, i was many moons ago ) just wondering what to read up on tonight really to make sure i am up to date. Thank you Rosepetal

Reflection

Hi All, Nearly finished my first year of my foundation degree and am really enjoying it. Unfortunately I am really struggling with my reflective practice. I can verbally reflect til the cows come home, but as soon as I go to write it down and then link it with different reflective theorists and models it all goes pear shaped. Every assignment has been the same in the reflective feedback section. I personally thought I had improved but the comments keep saying 'need more reflection'. I have spoken to my tutor who has tried to explain but I'm not sure how I am meant to link it in to my assignments when they vary from 'Social Policy' to Interpersonal Communication (wi…

I am soo happy I have now complete Year 1 part time of FD early years course. I have completed all module tasks for simseter 2 and I am now got few weeks to wait until my grades come back. I have learnt soo much on the course and my acdemic language skills have got sooo much better, Well done me! Now all I have to do is find a job in childcare so I can conitue with the course. I am then going to convert to a full hounors degree at level 6 (as it is now known). Hopefully by 2015 I will be a fully qualified Early Years Professional. For those who are still trying to complete their coursework you will get it done. I have learnt a new way …

Hello all, i wonder if any of you lovely people can halp me. i have to use this half term to write a proposal for my third year honours dissertation. But due to my father being gravely ill, i haven't had time prior to actually think about it, let alone come up with a topic. I did have an idea like, 'Have traditional nursery rhymes got a place in today's schools?' Do any of you think that this might be a good topic to choose. Another idea i had was something to do with emotional literacy inmy school. However i really didn't want to do a case study. Please could i have some help? Thanxs
