Theorists And Practice

I am in my 2nd year of Foundation degree and I think i'm experiencing a "senior moment." I know the guidance is based on theories such as the importance of play= Vygotsky, and that the National curriculum Piaget/differentiation/differing stages of development etc. What I really need are some examples of how they apply in my setting (Year1/2) Zone of proximal development and scaffolding is easy, we do it all the time. Does anyone have any other ideas as how the CGFS and Nat. Curric are based on theories? How do you put them into practice in your setting? Hope this ramble is clear!!!

I have just started on a BA degree course with Dundee University on Early Childhood Studies. As I am one of the oldies who qualified many years ago (20 to be exact) I have to claim credit for my past experiences in work practice. This involves writing some essays(aahh) As I have not written as essay for a long time, I need some help in getting started. Any ideas anyone?

Hi! I got my BA in Elementary/Primary and Special Education in 1986 and have been working with Reception children for the past 4 years in a row. I am interested in keeping myself updated and found about a book which I would like to know if it is worth to buy: Advanced Early Years Care and Education, A core textbook for Foundation Degrees in Early Years (Editor Iain MacLeod-Brudenell)... http://www.heinemann.co.uk/vocational/book...isbn=0435401785 Does anyone know about it? Would you recommend it? Thanks in advance for your advice.
