Dear all Having put off my spring cleaning for much longer than I should have I am over the next few weeks starting to have a good tidy up of the forum. I intend to archive older content and areas that are no longer widely used. Nothing will be deleted but moved to an archive forum area and all content moved there will still be able to be found by using the search function. Content moved to the archive will be "read only" so we would ask you to start new threads although of course you can link to the archived thread if you wish. We are also having a bit of a rename of some of the forum areas and merging some sub forums. Once we have finished if you…

Can anyone help, is there a quick and easy way I can document (in poster form or spider chart etc) what the 3 i’s are and how staff can use this in their daily practice? Also British values and cultural capital, maybe in like a poster format, again something that’s quick read and easy to understand ( I have a few new staff). Something to give them reminders whilst with the children.

We have a child in our setting who is two years old, he is quite boisterous generally, but has recently started biting. He tends to target the same children😩 (always very timid children). He has very limited speech and doesn’t always seem to understand what we say to him. He has only been with us since January. Please help, I’ve worked in childcare for years and have only ever had a couple of biters and after being spoken to never bit again, so I’m struggling with how to stop this. The child randomly bites, there is never a tussle or anything before hand, in fact the other day the child was just standing next to another child and he bit him. I don’t have a separate biting…

Anybody know how we re-order more rapid lateral flow tests ? I put an order through and they said it was invalid as we do not have an outbreak situation. We are still testing each week and asking parents not to send in their child if they have covid until they have two clear tests.

Hello all, I would like some ideas of how you all do snack time in your settings. At the moment, we sit all of the children round the table and hand out individual plates of fruit to each child. And then a cup with either water or milk(they choose). Once the children have finished they then start getting down from the table. My questions are…..do you have a rolling snack bar? Do the children prepare and serve their own food? What do you do if some children have finished and some are still eating? Do you let them get down from the table or wait until the others have finished? Thank you in advance for any ideas that you have Emma

Hi all, Looking for some advice. With all of the stress from dealing with Covid and just trying to keep our preschool open with just the three staff that we have….we have found ourselves a little behind with paperwork. We have fallen behind with 2 year checks and we are thinking that we should get them done ASAP. The only thing is, some of the children are now 3. Obviously 2 year checks are statutory, but would you still put that as the report title? We were thinking maybe we should call them 2 year checks and progress reports? Please help Emma

Please could somebody help us. Now that the government have said that we do not need to isolate if we test positive, have you written your own policies for your setting? Are you still asking parents to keep their children at home if they test positive? Also, are you still asking staff to isolate if they test positive too? Just curious how people are handling it now Thank you in advance
