Hi Just looking for advice in a scenario we faced yesterday- a parent informed us they had a temperature along with other symptoms pointed to a reoccurence of a previous diagnosis -not Covid. Would you advise for the parent to get a test. The child can then not attend until negative test confirms not Covid? ask parent to confirm from health professional it’s not Covid- related? Can we insist a child doesn’t attend if we know someone in their household has symptoms? Sorry if I’m asking the obvious or if its muddled ,but it’s all such new territory! Ok silly question time. One of my parents has asked if whilst waiting to collect her child if she is at risk of being considered breaching the rule of six. (As there are more than six parents waiting.) What would your answer be? Please make me laugh!!!

So like most of you we are starting to encounter some things that are unclear. We currently have a member of staff who is self isolating due to their child having symptoms (child does not attend our setting). They are currently waiting for test results. - if the test results come back positive, exactly when should we notify Public Health England. It states you should only notify if a member of staff or children from your setting has received a positive test. However, does this mean we have to wait for the test results of the member of staff or do we have to notify even if its only the member of staffs child. The reason i ask is that if it is only w…

How is everyone managing not mixing groups of children? The guidelines say not to mix groups of children, how do we manage that when we have different children in each day ? we are very small and only have a maximum of 12 children in at the moment, we only have one room so very difficult to split them, but we do have a large outside space which we will be using. We can't avoid mixing them though ?

Hi, I have just been informed by my contact at the local community centre we have hired for the preschool use for the past 50 years, that they are capping the amount of people allowed in each room. I am due to reopen on Monday!!! My smaller room for 2 year olds is registered to have a maximum of 8 children with two members of staff, they are now saying I can have five children and two members of staff. My big room for 3-4 year olds is being limited to 21 people, 4 staff members and the rest children. We usually have up to 28 children. Hi, do people think the guidance for early years will change again before September? Or are you working on the assumption that the latest version (2nd July I think) will stand and the only big difference is no bubbles but other measures still should remain eg avoiding children and staff attending two settings, staggered starts, minimise visitors etc? Settling new children will be a challenge! I’m thinking of trying to dissuade returning children’s parents from coming in, having a socially distanced queuing system, only having even new children’s parents where really necessary, only one parent per child, no siblings if possible etc

Hi all, Just wondered what peoples plans were for introducing more resources in September, like play dough, water, sandpits, dressing up cloths, books, soft furnishing etc.. are we able to re-introduce these? With the resources which are difficult to clean, (like our cabinet of large wooden blocks) do we still have to rotate them every 72 hours?

Hi everyone!! I have remained closed since March and re-opening in 3 weeks time. I am looking at bringing half my staff back part time due to low numbers and have read that the Government will help to pay the hours I can't up to 80%. I cannot find any detailed information on the Gov website regarding the way we pay these staff. Would i pay my staff only 80% of wages? For example if staff member work 30 hours normally with a wage of £1140 a month. I give them 15 hours work and pay £570 and i claim 80% of the other £570 from government = £456 so staff member gets £570+£456=£1026. This is £114 less. Now this is where it gets complicated: …

Hi, I have a child who will soon be holidaying abroad where the coronavirus is spiking again and the R rate is currently 2.6. As a Childminder would you be advising they do not return to your setting until 7 days after they return to the uk? Would you also apply this to children who are holidaying in the UK if the R rate is high (R1+)in those areas too. I am aware the government guidance specifies no quarantine rules from certain countries but if children are returning from areas where the R rate has increased then coming into your home when they get back this could potentially put other children and my own family at greater risk. Would love to know your thoughts on this…
