Evening All, Can I just ask how nurseries are actually arranging there space/splitting staff/children into bubbles? I have 2 rooms (baby & toddler and preschool room) to start with I was think I will have 10 children in the baby/toddler room and maybe 10 - 12 in the preschool room. I was going to (somehow) half the room so that each side would have 5 or 6 children and 2 staff (maximum of 8 people each side) but this seems very over staffed (total of approx. 21 children with 8 staff - not very cost effective). I need 2 staff each side to cover staff going to the toilet/lunch etc (we are opening 8am - 4pm). Now wondering if I should leave the room open (and…

There is lots of talk around when School's will re-open and there is a possibility that we will find out next week. "Primary schools in England could be allowed to reopen as soon as June 1 under possible plans being discussed by Boris Johnson. The Prime Minister will unveil the government's "roadmap" out of the coronavirus lockdown over the next week. It is not expected to set out firm dates, but part of that plan is the "phased" reopening of schools - where ministers confirm some pupils will be sent back first, with others kept home for longer. Mr Johnson appears to have confirmed primary pupils could be the first to return. The risk from Covid-19 is thought to…

Has anyone used junk modelling materials with their bubbles? If the children have their own set to work with is that OK?

I've just seen a GP on BBC Breakfast this morning called Dr Nighat Arif. She was taking part in a Q & A session with parents of children returning to school on Monday. She was asked about Coronavirus symptoms in children and answered that the symptoms to look out for are: Stomach ache Vomiting and diarrhoea A low temperature She also said to look out for signs of septicaemia. Nobody questioned this at all. I looked on the NHS website and several other sites and found no mention of these symptoms at all. Only the three usual symptoms were mentioned for children. This has been in all the advice and information we have given to parents. …

Just wanted to say hope all goes well for everyone welcoming more children or reopening tomorrow. I know there are so many anxious providers out there who just want to do their best for the children in these extraordinary times and I am sure we will all find a way to do so. We are not back until the 8th so will be interested to hear how people find working this way over the next week. To the providers that have stayed open for all this time, I have nothing but respect for you all. 🥰

Hi Just watching the briefing about track and trace. What is everyone going to do if a child and their family have been contacted to isolate for 14 days because of track and trace? Shut for 14 days? Thanks

When he makes his big announcement later today...... Will he say "Thanks to the superb actions of the public we have now passed the peak and successfully flattened the curve therefore we are now ready to proceed to step two of our roadmap, re-opening schools and nurseries from 1st June" Or will he say "We have considered the situation carefully, sought advice from our top team of Medical and Scientific advisors and, sadly, this is not the right time to progress to step two on our roadmap, I now ask that schools and nurseries put their plans for re-opening on hold" I know which option my money is on
