Divali Thank You

Hi All,

Thank you for your great Divali ideas. This has, in the past, been an area of the curriculum we needed to develop.

Last week was great, our Early Years Advisory Teacher visited and praised us for covering an "unfamiliar" celebration in a way that inspried the children. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about Divali and had great fun painting their hands, creating patters, re-enacting the story of Rama and Sita and the 10 headed demon (monster).

Thanks to your info on the site I ordered the Festivals video (at the last minute) which I highly recommend.

Here are a few pictures of our successful week.

Thanks again for all your ideas and inspiration.

I wonder if a picture link could be made on the site and we could all send photos of good practice and displays etc????

There is a gallery on the forum where members can post photos. You can find this at the top of the page towards the middle right-just between blogs and help.

There are lots of photos already there of diplays and activities.

Could I ask you exactly how you made your diwali lamps-they look as if they turned out better than ours!

Thanks

Plain basic salt dough. Equal measure flour and salt add half amount of water; ie: 2 cups salt, 2 cups flour, 1 cup water.

Push thumb in to make dip. Dry overnight on a heater. ( boiler in preschool kitchen) Paint and sprinkle with glitter whilst paint still wet. Add T-light.
