AnonyMouse_2821 Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Now that day care standards, birth to three and CGFS are all merged am I right in saying that instaed of the 14 standards there are now just five headings which encompass all the above. Has anyone looked into how this will work. I have tried to get on the training but there is none now until September, which is fine, but just thought i would see what your veiws were and if anyone has had any training yet about this?
AnonyMouse_8282 Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Sounds about right!! I'm going on training next week, hope to know more then.
AnonyMouse_2732 Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Since the inception of Every Child Matters there have been only five headings anyway, surely? And don't forget EYFS isn't the overriding framework until September 2008, so you've got plenty of time Sue
AnonyMouse_6541 Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Ive got my first training next week, ill let you know what im told. Im approaching it afresh, without comparing it to what we are doing now, as i think that will be less confusing for me, so im going to just use what is in the pack and then add to that when ive got my head around it!
AnonyMouse_2821 Posted June 28, 2007 Author Posted June 28, 2007 I know i've got plenty of time but just wondered what your thoughts were. Thanks for all your replies.
Guest Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Oh I do need to catch up - I know that we are being inspected under the 5 outcomes but are you saying the National Standards are no more and its all in stated the EYFS - sorry I know this sounds stupid - but havent been on the training and am certainly not up to speed with all this - although from what I have seen there doesn't appear to be so much detail in the EYFS. Haven't been on the training as my local authority failed to let the childrens centres know this training was coming up despite me making 3 phone calls asking when they were doing it. So now I have missed out - jsut as well I don't have a building or a nursery as yet. So help would be most appreciated. Nikki
Guest Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Hi Nikki, Although inspections take place looking at the five outcomes, standards are linked to these outcomes. For example when looking at "a healthy child", an inspector will look at how you meet the national standards to linked to this outcome - e.g. standard 4, standard 7, standard 8 etc. Hope this helps! SammyP
Guest Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 I am sure a kind soul showed how the standards linked to the five outcomes. Perhaps someone cn point us in that direction!!
Guest Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 http://www.foundation-stage.info/forums/in...mp;showfile=135 I put it in resources - hope this works! If not it's resources, search for eyfs and it's under Helen's child records Sarahx
Guest Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Thanks for that - I am still confused though and its not hard. Will the National Standards remain as they are as they need to be updated to line up with the EYFS or will the EYFS include the National Standards and the National Standards as we know them as a separate book be no more. Sorry still trying to get my head around this Nikki
Guest Wolfie Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 Hi Nikki - the standards are contained within the EYFS pack, in the booklet entitled "Statutory Framework for the EYFS" - in Section 3, starting on page 19. Hope this helps!
Guest Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 Hi Nikki - I think what you mean is what will happen to the 14 national standards we all know and love.... well ......they will be no more... kaput! etc What we will have is a totally new list of standards in the place Wolfie just said (which are spookily like the 14 standards but not numbered and in a different order) I HATE THEM NOT BEING NUMBERED I LIKE ORDER IN MY FILING!! They will link into the every child matters agenda much like the old standards and will go in similar headings. They have stuff you must do to be registered and legal and stuff you should do for good practice - or must do if you want good or outstanding is my reading of them I've been looking at them on the cdrom cos they are hyperlinked to the practice cards and other info and seem to make more sense..... Hope this helps! Sarahx
Guest Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 Ooh thanks for that - I now understand and will look at the book slightly differently - must get my head around it all - thanks again Nikki
