Guest Posted July 10, 2007 Share Posted July 10, 2007 Hi everyone, I have just finished my teaching degree and have been working in a private nursery in the pre-school room since April of this year. Some of you may know me, as I have previously posted a question about undertaking my NQT year in a private nursery. Anyway....just wondering for you people that work in private day nurseries, is it compulsory to use the Foundation Stage Profiles in the pre-school room? as for some reason, we haven't been doing in my nursery and I thought it was compulsory as the children are aged 3-4. You could try contacting your early years advisor to see whether your local authority has an assessment system or scheme of their own or one that they recommend you use? I was just a bit unsure that's all, as when I was on teaching placement last year, I was in a nursery class in a School and the teacher filled in the profiles for each child there, even though they were only nursery aged children. AnonyMouse_4820 Posted July 11, 2007 Share Posted July 11, 2007 In Bristol we were using the nursery version of the Foundation Stage Profile but our early years advisor recommended us to set up 'learning diaries/profiles'. They will need to be changed in light of the introduction of the EYFS. But they are much more appropriate and will be a lot more valuable to any parent or feeder school when leaving.
