Guest Jamjim Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Anyone in a children centre had OFSTED yet? What about the settings you support, what happens when they have OFSTED, is it any different from any other kind of OFSTED? thanks
Guest Wolfie Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Yes, we've had TWO! Within three months of each other! The first was done by two HMIs who looked at the Centre as a whole as part of a national survey into the impact that centres are having on their local communities. Everything was looked at - family support, childcare provision in the centre, outreach work, etc. - and the inspectors had a very full timetable of interviews with lots of different staff, possible because we were given two weeks notice of the inspection. We were given areas for improvement to work on as a result of that inspection. Then, three months later, Ofsted arrived again, unannounced, purely to inspect the nursery for care and education. The worrying thing was that the second inspector knew nothing about the previous inspectors' visit and looked non-plussed when we showed her our action plan to meet key issues - she said there was no record anywhere that she knew of that visit and so she hadn't been aware of key issues that we were working on! I think that other settings in the catchment area will continue to have "normal" Ofsted inspections as before.
