AnonyMouse_3139
Hi Kerryberry, if you can get outside how about making some habitates for creatures to hibernate in? Garden canes are liked by ladybirds, piles of logs for hedghogs and even snakes. And dont forget to feed the birds, the berry bushes are full so it'll be a bad winter. This site should give you plenty of ideas Hibernating animals
AnonyMouse_79
Ive collected leaves with the children and laminated them to preserve colours, sizes, shapes etc. We used the collection to compare and contrast and sort but had some to refer back to afterwards. Except that the laminator didnt like very thick stems, it worked well!! I also like making bread and the little red hen story for harvest. In one school we had a big book story the little yellow chick, which was good for comparing with the little red hen as the little yellow chicks friends arent quite so lazy! Guest
We went on an Autumn walk and took lots of photos and collected 'interesting things'. We read the 'Little Red Hen', made bread, did leaf printing, sorting leaves, colour mixing, going to turn the outdoor area in to a pretend bonfire night scene - bonfire, guy, going to make hot dogs to eat, dress up in coats and gloves, hold sticks (sparklers), make firework patterns with coloured chalks, etc., also talked about animals hibernating and squirrels gathering acorns, laminated leaves and strung them together to make necklaces or pieces of jewellery. There's a few ideas anyway.
