Outdoor Play

Who are the best writers on Outdoor Play? By that I mean not necessarily for ideas but on the whole philosophy behind the outdoor learning environment and outdoor play. I'm mentoring a student on the Foundation Degree who is starting an assignment in which she needs to evaluate existing provision and make suggestions for developmnents, linking everything to relevant theory. How about Marjorie Ouvry? Helen Bilton? Has anyone found a good book or article on the subject?

Sorry to barge in on this one and its not relevant to books but do any of these advocate outdoor play areas for the 0-3's - do they need to be separated, say under 1's and 2-3's. My feeling is that they can be put together as long as a risk assessment is done - can see nothing in the standards to say otherwise and I believe it to be good practice to get them together - but would like to know other peoples interpretation on it including the authors you speak about. Reason I want to know is that I am currently designing my outdoor play area for two rooms 0-1's and 2-3's and dont want to segregate them by a large fence. Thoughts please.
