AnonyMouse_3139
Hi, can anyone tell me why a nursery has a ratio of 1:13 and a playgroup has a ratio of 1:8 for 3/4 yr olds? I'm confused!
AnonyMouse_2732
Not sure myself...think it's something to do with the Daycare Standards and the leading Act - you know, Education or Children..? Am I talking rubbish? Sooner it's all sorted and equalised, the better - but, don't you know, there'll be less adults!!!!!!!!! Sue

Guest
is it because there's a teacher (QTS) in charge of the state nursery? well if you havn't ogt a nursery unit many 4 year olds go into a class of 1:30 in reception. Its only now that schools are providing teachers in reception with the TA cover they need. It si recemmended thtat reception ratio (unofficially) is best maintained at 1:15 but that is recc best practise.and not everyone gets this cover.
