Guest Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Hi An NVQ3 student at my setting has asked for a copy of our "Legislation Policy document" - I'm sorry to say I don't know what she means or have such a policy! Can anybody point me in the right direction or share an example please? Thanks in anticipation. sam
AnonyMouse_534 Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Hi Sam I would have thought any legislation we have to adhere to is included in various policies e.g. equal opps. I have not come across a single policy.
AnonyMouse_3735 Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Would think she needs a copy of your policies Inge
AnonyMouse_64 Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 As far as I am aware there is nothing in the standards for NVQ that refers to a "Legislation Policy Document". Perhaps you should go back to her and ask for more clarification on this.
Guest Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 thanks for replies - glad to hear I'm not missing anything vital.
Guest Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 I think what they might be looking for is perhaps a reference sheet oon the legislation you have referenced or referred to when drawing up your policies e.g. Children's Act, Health and Safety at Work Act etc and other pieces of legislation that drive the policies. If you were to look at the National Standards or the new EYFS documentation these are referenced as they are the primary source for all your policies and procedures. I do make mention of a number of them in my opening intro but dont have a legislation policy on how and where our policies have been drawn up from. Nikki
Guest Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 if as described by Nikki, which sounds plausible, I think the NVQ student should 'research' what are the relevant legislations rather than be given a list from the provider. She/he is more likely to remember them then and understand their relevance in their various contexts. Advise to where to find information ie: National Standards, new EYFS publications etc would of course be helpful for her/him. Peggy
