Hi,

I asked a friend of mine to send me some of his assessment stuff and he sent me a tracking sheet to use instead of the profile which I think is great and I have got up and running. He also sent me a tracking sheet to tick off which stepping stone/early learning goal the children are at. Do I need to use both and keep evidence for both? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

If you feel the tracker you already use enables you to collate the information needed for the Profile, then I would say it would be fine to use the one. If not, perhaps you could amend your tracker to incorporate a space to include evidece for the Profile as well - then it would all be contained in one document. Mrs Ofsted will presumably judge whether your assessment systems enable you to keep track of children's progress...

I have to say that this is from my perspective as a pre-school practitioner - might be different if you're in reception or a year one class, of course!
