AnonyMouse_4869
This is a bit stressful and im only doing the application! The question im stuck on is.. Summary of your subject knowledge strengths (in relation to the National Curriculum) and areas you are planning to develop. My degree specialism is early childhood and education studies. I didn't do A levels, I did NVQ level 3 early years care and education. So i dont really know what to put, obviously I have some subject knowledge from the amount of time ive spent in schools, but nothing that can be backed up....does that matter? Obviously the answer in itself will be personal to my strengths but just need a little guidance if anyone can help???? thanks lucie x Edited November 3, 2007 by Lucie
AnonyMouse_73
Hi there Lucie, one of the big things for teachers in training whatever their route is their subject knowledge especially in Literacy Numeracy Science and ICT, and you will probably be expected to complete an audit once you get on the programme. You have spent a lot of times in schools, is this across ages or working within one particular age group? Have you had any particular responsibility for say reading groups, or developing writing with SEN children, or taking groups to the ICT suite? These are examples which would show where you have curriculum strengths, and may include training you have been on. Remember they don't want chapter and verse, just a summary, and only you know what you have experiences of. what they want to see from this question is a. how much you already know about the national curriculum(and would include the foundation stage curriculum if you are training for early years) b whether or not you are reflective about your own areas of strength and development needs. Do get in touch again if you are still struggling and good luck with the application
AnonyMouse_4869
Thankyou Mundia, all of the examples you gave are things that I have done within school so you have pointed out that I do at least have some subject knowledge! The majority of my experience is FS/KS1 but have also taught in KS2, mainly Lit and Num. Thankyou for your guidance lucie x
