Its not necessary.

It is good especially for non music specialists but what else have you got in school?

There some discount on online purchases at the publishers website---A&C Black.

thanks susan the other year groups have got it but not reception. i thought it might be nice for the continuity. I enjoy singing but i wouldn't say i was brilliant and i dont play an instrument thanks again

I'd definately go for it, especially if other year groups in school use it. I use it in my class and have done in every class I've taught in! They love the bounce the teddy song and the hello songs which I start every music session with.

I have used music express in reception for several years as I am not a music specialist. The kids love it and the CD rom's included are really useful. All the teachers in other year groups use it too, so there is a good sense of continuity. I also use Sticky Kids CD's for quick action songs and warm up's in P.E. Fantastic resource.

Our school purchased Music Express last year. I have used it for the reception children this year and they love the songs. Noah's Ark is probably their favourite so far. It is a bit different from other song books as there is a real focus on rhythm. Some songs are almost chant like. If you go to A&C Black you can hear samples.
