Planning A Weekend Away

Hello, I know I have been very quiet.... I have been around just no time to post, this teaching stuff keeps you busy, I had lots of advice and support whilst doing my degree, then training (whether you knew it or not!) but I don't think anyone told me how busy my first term as a NQT would be!

Anyway for the last 3 years me and three school friends meet up once a year for a weekend, around February half term (best time for me) and it is my turn to arrange. We have done Dublin, Aviemore and Brighton and try to make it local- ish for one of us (we are spread around the country) so it needs to be near an airport, to fly in from Edinburgh, nearish to Suffolk and have a decent restaurant / pub.

We don't mind hotels or self catering however tents possibly out, it is meant to be a treat afterall!

I have done initial google searches but I wonder if anyone has any great ideas or knows somewhere we could go.

Thanks in advance now back to work as my new years resolution is not to spend so much time in school and / or doing school stuff (this obviosly doesn't include the forum) but i do intend to be more vocal....

Or how about Cambridge - not far from Stansted airport if you can fly there from Edinburgh, and also close to Suffolk. Lovely city, lots to do and see and lots of places to eat and drink. I was born and grew up there and didnt appreciate it until I didn't live there anymore!! :o

I'd be tempted to look at Europe too!

Ryanair do some really cheap flights. OK they are a bit of a no frills airline but it's only a short flight!

I have just booked to fly from Stansted to Cork. Unfortunately I can only spare a day but am flying over early morning to visit a poorly relative and flying back late evening.

The fare out was 1p the fare back 1p and £19.98 in taxes/charges - total cost £20! I can't get a train ticket to London for that! I did a similar booking to Venice a few years ago!!

Saw this and thought it sounded fun

Rhubarb, rhubarbA serious contender for the most unlikely themed weekend ever is a new break in Ferrensby, North Yorkshire, where the General Tarleton Inn is running a "special rhubarb weekend for rhubarb lovers". Whoever these people may be (is it a cult? Do they have clubs?), they're sure to enjoy the rhubarb-themed menus, a visit to the local rhubarb grower and their very own pack of fresh rhubarb, thrown into the package. All that, plus two nights' B&B on February 2 and 3 for £230 per room, and it's bound to sell out faster than you can say custard.
