Guest
Any ideas for problem solving in Nursery - focus is shape? Was thinking about taking photos of objects inside classroom - can they find the object and name the shape? What do you think? How would I extend this?? Other suggestions would be great!! Guest Wolfie
How about a "wrapping" activity - providing lots of wrapping paper and getting the children to wrap different 3D shapes of different sizes - not necessarily regular 3D shapes, maybe a selection of interesting shaped boxes and containers. My children always love any activity involving scissors, paper and sellotape and they would have to do a lot of problem solving regarding size of paper needed and how to make sure the whole shape was covered. Guest
try taking photos of things outside, in your surrounding enviroment, then walk out and try to match the shapes. Traffic signs / road signs have loads of shape on them, take local photos as these will have more meaning to the local children.
