Questioning Observation

Guest

Recommended Posts

im being observed next week by the head and literacy co-ordinator. The activity i have planned involves children learning indoors and outdoors. They each have a walkie talkie. A child has to find the high frequency words hidden outside. They then have toread them to a child inside over the walkie talkie the child inside has to find the word from a group of words. When they have collected all the words they have to arrange them into a sentence. The focus of the observation is questioning. They are looking for use of shallow, deep and deeper questioning which will lead to shallow deep and deeper thinking. (the term they use on the obs sheet isnt deeper,i cant think what it is at the mo but you know what i mean!!) Anyway my problem is what type of input do i do to use these types of questions and evoke this type of thinking. Also any suggestions as to how the main activity could be improved/changed would be appreciated!!

Hi Lola, good luck with your observation.

How many children is this going to involve?

Will you be able to keep them focused, especially the ones indoors?

It sounds like an interactive reading activity but Im not sure how you will get the level of questioning that you seem to need?
