Guest
Hi just wanted ask what is the memory span for 4-5 year olds? I am thinking of doing 10 minutes micro teaching on memory span for children and doing a test on the adults and tutor at the beginning- similar to kim;s game, where i shall show the group a tray of objects cover it and then get them to recall what they saw. What do you guys think? Thanks Dee x Edited February 3, 2008 by Guest

AnonyMouse_1469
yes, 4 year olds:4-5 minutes, in theory, though we all know children who are exceptions to the rule!! Edited February 3, 2008 by narnia
AnonyMouse_3735
thought that was concentration span... isn't that different to memory span which is how long they remember something?
Guest
Good point Inge i am alittle confused, i am doing a test looking at how long children can recall something, so it is memory span i am after- any norms on how long children can hold information? AnonyMouse_4544
There are different types of memory so you need to think which you want to test. The type of memory used in Kim's game increases with age up to around 40 years old then begins to decrease boys are usually better than girls. Guest
Thanks Marion. It is difficult, i am unsure as to what i am going to actually do, want do kim game on the group and then introduce my topic which is discussing how long children recall information. But really unsure as to what im actually going to do and present to the group- am back to where i started off again, got work load aswell, working on dissertation, other assignemnts and now this microteaching assessment! Really stressing me out! Dee x
Guest Wolfie
Marion, I was just going to ask how long that rule about one minute per year lasted as I was sure that I'm the exception to the rule at my age....you've answered my question!!
