Guest Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Just around the corner is mother's day....what do you plan to do?
Guest Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 It will soon be here, very early this year. we are going to do I'm a little teapot, children to make teapot cards and give a teabag(my own children did this everytim!!!).
AnonyMouse_8623 Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 What a lovely idea, will have to try this! Thanks.
Guest Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 How about a book mark. We have done this in the past. Cut out an oblong with a point at the end. Hole punch up the sides and then the children can practice threading with ribbon. They look really nice. If you want you can also cover them in a doiley before hole punhcing. Something for them to keep and use.
Guest Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 I've done the tea pot card many times.... it works really well.
AnonyMouse_3735 Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 we supply coffee too..not everyone drinks tea , or fruit teas ... mugs not teacups.... hot chocolate... etc etc
AnonyMouse_534 Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Our children are making a flower shape with the childrens drawing on the front and a magnet stuck on the back for the fridge.
Guest Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Just being pedantic but please remember it's actually 'Mothering Sunday' not 'Mothers's Day', which is a commercialisation of the religious roots of this day
Guest Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 The teapot card sounds nice. How do you make it?
AnonyMouse_2846 Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 (edited) we basically cut round a teapot shape in card. there is a rhyme to paste inside and we hang a teabag inside. if somebody doesnt come forward with the rhyme i will try and remember to get it but not in til mon as on course tomo oh and we usually decorate it with flower printing or finger prints is effective for a spotty teapot Edited February 21, 2008 by Andreamay

Happy Mother's Day You are the best Put your feet up And have a rest....
AnonyMouse_4544 Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I've just bought some "Love" tea bags at Tesco to use in the cards ...I'm not sure what they will taste like but the thought is there
Guest Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 We are doing collage flowers and putting a mini mars bar in the middle with the caption Mother's Are Really Special
Guest Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Has anybody else tried Marion's link? I am getting a very strange forum message which tells me I am not allowed to use this feature. Is anybody else having that problem? Linda
AnonyMouse_379 Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I can view Marions picture fine. This year we are making vases from Yogurt bottle, painted and maybe make a flower to go in it or buy some daffodils... also make a special label to go on it. L

Guest Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 A cup of tea/coffee etc to say thank you for everything you have done enhjoy relax and have a day of happiness and fun killowengirl
Guest Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 one of the ones we did last year was Mother's Day Kisses Place 2 heart chocs back to back in the bowl of a spoon. Cover with netting and tie a small ribbon. To The ribbon bow attach the following poem: Happy Mother's Day A spoonful of love And a couple of wishes That you enjoy your Mother's Day Kisses! another teapot rhyme I once used is Just put the kettle on to boil And have a cup of tea Then sit down in your favorite chair And cozy up with me! Today you don't need sugar I really want to say My love will sweeten everything You touch on Mothers' Day! killowengirl
AnonyMouse_8466 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Thanks killowen girl - these are Brill! I may use them for our Mother's Day lunch this year - always on the lookout for gifts to put on the tables! Maz
AnonyMouse_13453 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 OOh in that case - have you done the boxes? These are - well in the past we have used rectangular blocks of wood my husband has made - rectangles, you could collect those big cooks matches matchboxes, then the children wrap them in pretty paper with bows and everything on, and you affix a label which says "This is a very special gift That you can never see The reason it's so special, It's just to you from me You never can unwrap it Please leave the ribbon tied Just hold this box close to your heart It's filled with love inside Whenever you are lonely Or even feeling blue You only have to hold this gift To know I think of you."
Guest Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 glad you loke them happy maz, my parents loved them so I know they work.
AnonyMouse_1195 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Mothering Sunday is March 22nd this year.
Guest Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 What lovely ideas Simple enough for me to do with the parent and toddler group, I always try too hard, last year each child got to take home a clay handprint for mothers day and footprint for fathers day. This year I'm trying to simplify it! Its hard trying to get everything completed in one and half hours each week. Does anyone have a teapot template the could upload and then I can set my husband cutting them out. Another idea I did whilst working in pre-school is a babyfood jar, tissue paper and glue the outside and place paper flowers made by the children inside. Something to keep forever. Sam
AnonyMouse_13453 Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 teapot template there you are remember to hinge it somewhere so it folds to make a card you can write in and it will stand up

AnonyMouse_8466 Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Mothering Sunday is March 22nd this year. Mothering Sunday and my mum's birthday were close together, neatly topped off by St Patrick's day! So March always provided cause for celebration in our house. Hope MrsWeasley has put the date in her diary! Maz
AnonyMouse_8914 Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Last year we just let the children choose what card they would like to make and then put them in envelopes and went on a walk to the post office to post the cards home to mummy for Mothering Sunday. We had lots of fab feedback from parents saying that the children really understood the journey of the cards and purpose.
