Easter Rabbits

Five little Easter rabbits Hold up five fingers

Sitting by the door,

One hopped away, and then there were four.

Bend down one finger.

Refrain

Hop, hop, hop, hop, Clap on each hop.

See how they run!

Hop, hop, hop, hop, Clap on each hop

They think it is great fun!

Four little Easter rabbits Hold up four fingers

Under a tree,

One hopped away, and then there were three.

Bend down one finger

Repeat refrain.

Three little Easter rabbits Hold up three fingers

Looking at you,

One hopped away, and then there were two.

Bend down one finger

Repeat refrain.

Two little Easter rabbits Hold up two fingers.

Resting in the sun,

One hopped away, and there was one. Bend down one finger.

Repeat refrain.

One little Easter rabbit

Left all alone,

He hopped away, and there there were none.

Hand behind back.

Hop, hop, hop, hop!

Clap on each hop.

All gone away!

Hop, hop, hop, hop!

Clap on each hop

They'll come back some day.

A Bunny

A traditional fingerplay

Once there was a bunny.

Double left fist and extend two fingers for ears.

And a green, green cabbage head,

Double fist on the right hand.

"I think I'll have some breakfast," the little bunny said.

Move bunny toward cabbage head.

So he nibbled and he nibbled.

Move fingers on the left hand.

Then he turned around to say,

"I think this is the time I should be hopping on my way!"

Make hopping movements with the left hand.

Here's a bunny

(raise two fingers)

With ears so funny

And here's a hole in the ground.

(make hole with fingers of other hand)

At the first sound she hears

She pricks up her ears

(straighten fingers)

And pops right into the ground.

(put into hole)

Easter Eggs

A counting and color rhyme for Easter

Five little Easter eggs, lovely colors wore,

Mother ate the blue one, then there were four.

Four little Easter eggs, two and two you see,

Daddy ate the red one, then there were three.

Three little Easter eggs, before I knew,

Sister ate the yellow one, then there were two.

Two little Easter eggs, oh what fun,

Brother ate the purple one, then there was one.

One little Easter egg, see me run,

I ate the green one, then there were none.

Here comes Peter Cottontail

Hoppin' down the bunny trail,

Hippity hoppity,

Easter's on its way

Bringin' ev'ry girl and boy

A basketful of Easter joy

Things to make your Easter

Bright and gay

He's got jelly beans for Tommy

Colored eggs for sister Sue

There's an orchid for your mommy

And an Easter bonnet too. Oh!

Here' comes Peter Cottontail

Hoppin' down the bunny trail

Hippity hoppity

Happy Easter Day

Look at him hop and listen to him say,

"Try to do the things you should"

Maybe if you're extra good

He'll roll lots of Easter eggs your way

You'll wake up on Easter morning

And you'll know that he was there

When you find those choc'late bunnies That he's hiding ev’rywhere, Oh!

Here' comes Peter Cottontail

Hoppin' down the bunny trail

Hippity hoppity

Happy Easter Day.

Hot Cross Buns

Hot cross buns!

Hot cross buns!

One a penny, two a penny,

Hot cross buns!

If you have no daughters

Give them to your sons

One a penny, two a penny,

Hot cross buns.

Just had another thought. I had to do KS1 assembly on the theme of the last supper and the betrayal of Jesus. I found that rather tricky. Decided the main focus could be how we treat our friends and talked about how Jesus had washed their feet at the start of the meal. I asked for 12 'friends' to come and sit at the front. Then asked for one of them to volunteer to let me wash their feet. It could have gone horribly wrong, but though their was huge excitement in the room, some decorum was maintained and the whole thing became rather magical. The website where I picked up the washing idea had it down as a class activity where children might like to have a go at washing and drying each others feet and talking about how this felt. Thought it could be marvellous outdoors, weather permitting!
